Why are round diamonds more than ovals and other fancy cuts?

I am curious? is it harder to cut a round diamond?

Taken directly from the Tutorial on this site......."Round brilliants are the most sparkly and most popular shape; therefore rounds have the highest liquidity should you ever need to resell or trade up."

That said, it's a matter of personal preference and you should invest in the stone that will provide the most enjoyment.
