If you are sober he may be cuter, but I'm gorgeous after several beers.

I think he is more attractive, he thinks I'm more attractive, so it works out.

I think we're pretty equal, but I guess it depends on who you ask :wink2:

I think he's cuter. He says I am.. but... I think I'm more right than him :P

Are we talking physically or in every way?
Most people would say we are evenly matched physically but I know I got the better of the deal. I mean, he is handsome, he cooks and bakes too, builds stuff, fixes stuff and well, is good at everything he does. I am not too handy and I cannot cook, bake or clean. And I can be a big baby at times and have lots of neuroses (which he doesn't have) so I have to say he is more attractive in almost every way (though I definitely am the funnier one in the relationship).

TGuy is an Australian in America. He has an "accent." There is no way I can win this, as apparently he is 10 points ahead of the game just by the way he speaks.
I forgot about accent. Australian is indeed quite sexy, you are lucky. J is an Englishman living in Scotland. His loud, braying Home Counties accent takes thousands of points off him.

I think I'm edging out ahead on this one, in fact

Jennifer, what are "Home Counties"? :)

... it's a matter of perception, isn't it.
Totally!!

Which is why I wrote, "Define attractive any way you wish since the poll is not-scientific, purely your opinion, and just for fun.

Don't think too much.
Just go with your gut."

I know, Kenny, no need to be defensive! I just find the topic interesting to muse on. After all, the whole concept of "the male gaze" posits a certain advanced degree of performativity in femininity. Looks like the two polls bear that out, since thus far, most respondants feel their intellect is tied with their spouse's, but that they (on this mostly female board) are statistically more attractive than their partners ....

Circe, what does "performativity" mean? :P

I'm amazed that most people said equal... perhaps because the simple answer is most people are insanely attracted to their partners. At least right up around the time the rings are exchanged.

Men and women value different sorts of attractiveness though. I think Kenny meant just totally physical. haha.

I'm more attractive to men and he's more attractive to women.

I put its a tie... we kind of take turns lol

When we were growing up - me.
When we got married - me.
The first few years of marriage and when the kids were young - him.
Now it's probably a tie.

ETA: If we're talking non-physical I think it's me. A lot of people pursue him because of his amazing logical prowess, but I'm the social glue for sure.

DH is more attractive, no question.

hahaha!

it's so hard to judge. maybe i should post a photo and let everyone else tell me!

i picked him.

I think I have a more attractive face, but dh has the body hands down! So we even out =)

Recently my husband grew a beard and the ladies are loving it. So I chose him. :D

Ditto!

He's classically handsome: tall and lean with blonde hair and blue eyes.

I'm cute, rather than beautiful: short and round with dark hair, dark eyes and biiiiiig cheeks.

I'm still hoping that our (eventual) kids will look like him, but with my skin tone!

I have never thought of myself as gorgeous, though I have been told repeatedly (in the last 20 years) that I look like Julia Roberts, except for the smile (hers is much bigger than mine) and my hair is straight.

DH, on the other hand, has been mistaken for Tom Selleck (constantly). He is built like Tom Selleck and has that thick moustache (when he grows one) and thick eyebrows, and has dimples :naughty: ! Oh, I love dimples and I think I fell in love with his dimples first.

Getting hot in here, excuse me while I get a cold drink. BTW, what was the question?

I think easily my DH is more attractive. He is the classic tall, dark, and handsome type, with dark framed glasses. He is a little nerdy, but has held onto his beard from his time spent in Alaska so has a touch of ruggedness about him. I would say I am cute/pretty, and I'm in good shape since I love working out and getting my beauty sleep. He would say I'm beautiful, though.

DH says I"m out of his league all of the time. He's wrong though - I still look at him in awe sometimes thinking, "I can't believe he's MY husband!"

He's more beautiful on the inside too. He's much more kind and understanding than me.

Part of the south of Englandshire. ;))

We are both relatively decent looking people who both have had historically low self-esteem about our looks. Both of us had our skin breaking out in HS when you form your self-identity about attractiveness. In addition I was really skinny and wore thick glasses and had braces. We were both tall for our age as well.
Regarding the other thread no, we would not have gone out if we met in HS. I would not have been hot enough, and I would have thought he was an obnoxious jerk(he uses humor as a defense mechanism). But our skin cleared and grew into our awkward bodies. Heck we may have even been considered good looking! So when we actually met we both respectively felt we were scoring. The way we both dealt with feeling unattractive was simply downgrade it's importance. So I still wear loosish menswear inspired clothing and he wears grungy clothes for the most part, but we both clean up decent. And our kids are gorgeous, so at least the combination is good.

He's the Mary and I'm the Rhoda

Gender theory is fun!

Er ... just me?

 I like it!

As for the poll, I'd say we're tied! Most people typically end up with someone who is as attractive as they are. There have actually been studies done (I learned about them in College Round 1 so couldn't tell you the researchers, though) and if you're a 7 you usually end up with a 7, etc.

phooey.

My DH is a 3 dressed up as 9. And I the (true) latter. Anecdotal of course. :cheeky:

cheers--Sharon

I think we're pretty much tied. Although he has this annoying ability to lose weight/get toned with no almost no effort and it takes me SO MUCH work.

I think dh is much more attractive than I am. he is the most handsome guy in the world to me, so that might skew things a wee bit.

I'd say we are about equal and we produced a GORGEOUS child.

The funny thing is my husband is not my tpe at all. He's a redhead {or was when I met him, around the time Noah built the ark}, has a beard and looks like a lumberjack. I am by nature attracted to dark haired men--think Richard Armitage, who is a British actor. {if one of you techno savvy people can post a pic I would be forever grateful}. They actually both have similar baritone vioces, but after 30 years I generally tune out the husbands, but am hyper sensitive {much like a dog to the whistle} when I hear RA's.

Richard Armigate is absolutely delicious! OMG, what I wouldn't do to that man!

He is *exactly* my type too, so you have very, very good taste!

And like you, my SO is absolutely nothing like the type I am usually attracted to... But utterly gorgeous, nonetheless!

Hey CedarRapids! (threadjack coming)..... Do you live there? I'm from Iowa and used to live in CR. Moved about a year and a half ago.

On another note, I hadn't thought about attractiveness in the buff..... That might skew things slightly.
