Hi there. This may seem like a very elementary question, but for purchases made from sources like ID Jewelry or BGD and you don't live near those jewelers, where do you take your items to be checked and cleaned, just any jewelry store you trust?
For a cleaning, sure, any jewellry store should do - but be cautious of ones willing to put anything pave in an ultrasonic machine. If its to repair prongs - I'd return to the vendor I purchased it from. The shipping may cost, but I'd rather pay than have someone else damage their work.
I would be comfortable having a BM check my prongs, but I wouldn't necessarily want them to do any needed work on them. I think that most BM send their work outside anyway, and if thats the case then it would make sense just to return the ring to the vendor you purchased it through. Otherwise I would ask around for a jeweler with their own bench and check out their work beforehand.
I take my jewelry in to be checked at Ben Bridge. I bought a diamond there many years ago so they look at that and then they'll clean my other jewelry. Actually, they always offer!
