...the Winter Olympics? Am I the only one who's excited? Opening ceremony starts tonight, and the games begin tomorrow! Yay! I just love watching the Olympic games and getting to 'know' all the athletes and their stories for two weeks.

I can''t wait! I like the winter Olympics even better than summer.

I can''t wait. I''ve been watching since I was a kid, and am excited to watch with my daughter. I might even like Winter better than Summer.

I want to watch, but I don''t have TV!

Can I watch online??

I will probably keep it on, but not necessarily watch every part. Some of them I just don''t find interesting. Like swimming, that is not one that I will watch. I guess I am still a little girl in that I like the ice skating and gymnastics the most.

I''m hooked on figure skating, so yes, I will definitely be watching.

Me Me Me!!! Soo looking forward to it!!!

I am sooo excited! The Winter Games are sooo my thing, as a former figure skater and member of a hockey-playing/obsessed family. Crossing my fingers that work is not horrible the next couple weeks so I can watch as much as possible.

We''re hoping that this will be the last winter olympics that we don''t attend

I have mine! I''m so excited. It''s all we''ve been hearing about for months and the whole city is fired up. Gonna be great!

I am so excited!!! I have been working on a paper for school like crazy because life basically revolves around the Olympics once they start. I can''t wait!!!

Now if only my cable would come back on...silly snow!

Yay! I''m super excited! Vancouver is my home town so it''s pretty cool to see it being held there!

I won''t be able to watch the openning ceremonies though.

Do you think they''ll replay it or it''ll be online somewhere? I really wanted to see it.

Me me me! I'm so excited... Canada has been doing exceptionally well in world championships this year, so watch out world!

ETA: If anyone is actually going there, forget the freezing arctic cold stereotype... It's currently very mild in Vancouver, so much so that they have been shipping snow on the ski slopes from surrounding mountains!

I will be...

all the fun sports anyway

I will not be watching. i find the jongoism really off-putting.

Watching the pre-ceremony play right now. SO. FRIGGIN. EXCITED. My good friend is actually volunteering at the Olympics. She gets to watch the opening ceremony live...lucky girl!

Also, feeling absolutely horrible for the young luge athlete that passed away. He was so young, only 21.

I was just going to start a thread about the luge athlete (uh, luger???), but I didn''t know if it would be appropriate. I can''t believe they replayed the accident. I feel so sorry for his family and his teammates. I love watching the luge event but it''s so dangerous.

I''ll watch as much coverage as I can, but I have to admit, I don''t know any of the American athletes who are competing this time around. Wait, isn''t Apolo Anton Ohno in the speed skating event again? Is Shaun White competing in snowboarding? If so, then I know two US athletes!

My husband likes to channel surf, so I may have to watch some of the coverage by myself if I want to watch one of the events in its entirety.

I was watch the pre-opening ceremony and they said that it''s one of the most dangerous courses in the world.

Well, that torch lighting was an epic fail

We''ll be watching. We look forward to it.

Sorry to threadjack, but GEMGIRL, if you could please point me to the post where you talk about the gorgeous blue stone in your avatar photo, that would be much appreciated!

I''ve not set it yet. I''m going to work on a few other projects first. I just couldn''t pass it up.

Agreed - unfortunate that we are now the country that couldn''t get it up ;-)

Anyone else thing the torch lighting thingies looked like big B.C. cigarettes? ;-)

Maybe I''m the only one who thought this, but I was a little disappointed in the opening ceremony. I went to bed before the torch was lit so I missed the "epic fail, as Kama put it. I like watching the athletes march in (and I love it when the tiny nations come out). I thought the rest of it was cool but I was bored after a while.

I totally agree with you, though it was so strikingly sad when the Georgia team came out.

I laughed at the bonehead torch fail.

I just watched Shani Davis flame out in the 5000m. Boo.

Loving Apollo Ohno!

OMG, he had me freaked out in that last race!!! So much fun. Brings back memories of watching Bonnie Blair (hometown hero) when I was a kid.
