My husband is an auctioneer and he also buys and sells antiques and collectibles... and he LOVES that show.
Last month when we were in Vegas, we went to their shop. Honestly, I like the show, too, but the actual store was a HUGE disappointment to me! There wasn''t much of interest there, really -- and not a single item of jewelry that I''d have wanted even if they''d have offered it to me free!!!
Anyway, here''s a picture I took of my DH and the ol'' Crankpot!!!
i seriously love that show AND american pickers. the guys from pawn stars really do rip off their customers, but i guess sometimes you do what you have to do to maintain a successful business. that picture is priceless.
I watch both. We recently discovered them. The pawn shop does underpay sometimes, but as far as American Pickers goes at first I thought they were ripping off the people, but then I thought about it and those people are getting money for something they otherwise wouldnt have looked at for another 20 years. The one that cracked me up was when they bought the car and then it turned out to be pretty muich worthless.
I noticed that they ask people if they want to pawn or sell. I didnt know what the difference was and DH explanined to me so now I wonder whether pawning or selling gets them more $.
