Costco makes a damn good dog. I seriously want to get a Costco membership just to go get a damn hotdog every few days.

I have, once, a few years ago and LOVED it UNTIL I ended up at the ER with food poisoning! The ER doctor had asked where I had eaten the last 24 hours and it was all at my BIL's home, except for Hot Doug's. The ER dr literally grabbed his chest and gasped "Not Hot Doug's!" and he refused to admit I could have gotten sick from there, lol. We're heading to Chicago in a couple of weeks and Hot Doug's is on our "to eat" list again. I'm just not going to order what I got last time!

But if I have one twice a year I'm happy. Not a huge fan.

New hamburger joints popping up everywhere though from Bobby Flay's to Burger Dive.

So many places in my home state. We have New York Systems where they are put together in front of you with the guy stacking them down his arm while he puts on the toppings. Also Junkyard Dogs and Nathans.

I tried Hebrew National for summer cookouts but found them very salty. And the low fat ones just dry right out on the grill.

Apparently my millionaire boss had a Costco membership for years so he could buy their hotdogs. Never anything else.

Sometimes if I mention I'm running over there on my lunch break he will ask me to bring him back some hot dogs!

I tried the officially crowned "World's Best Hot Dog" while in Iceland over Christmas and it was disappointing compared to my spicy hot dogs back home!

I have to admit that I will buy genuine (Santa Monica-based) mall corn dogs at the slightest provocation. I think that's more about the freshly fried piping hot cornbread wrapping than the "dog", though.
