I'm buying both, but the tradition is that the groom buys the brides and vice versa. I just felt bad that FI spent so much on my ering (it was a lot for us) when we are graduate students, so I offered to buy both bands (of course this is also because I really really wanted the matching ritani for mine!).
Well, we were lucky in that both our wedding bands came from the same store. Since there was a time delay to make the rings I put the first half down and he paid the second half when we picked them up. Or was it vice versus? Either way, we split the cost.
Don''t know about etiquette but we''re splitting the costs for his and mine together. I paid the first half which included his, which I like b/c it makes me feel like I bought his
Traditionally I think you pay for each other''s, but my feeling is that if you''re combining finances after the wedding then it really shouldn''t matter. My husband paid for both of ours, but we also combined finances and accounts almost a year ago and are living off of his income and putting mine into savings and our house fund.
