I am still on the hunt for a fabulous thank you gift for my mother. i had some really awesome PS discuss with me some preloved options, but because we've had some unexpected expenses right now, im not able to purchase it for a few months, so right now preloved isnt the best option.

right now im thinking a nice DBTY bracelet, the cheapest ive found so far was my BGD
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond-bracelets/pre-set-dbty-bracelet-14k-yellow-gold-5707y14

but still, if i could find a better quality one, id like to. I wish there was a cheaper one with old cuts, because i know Ma is into those.

also, if anyone could think of anything else in the $400 price range, id love that!
She really likes yellow gold. She always dresses well, but never too "fancy", she wears a pair of studs that are like, little clusters but the outside rim are 5 little baguettes instead of rounds, hard to explain, because my description sounds 80's, but they are classier than that  she wears one small probably .75-1 tcw yellow gold band, and a maybe .3 or .4 tcw antique stone in a solitaire as her RHR. I know she would wear more diamonds if she could, she told me next year she'll be getting an upgraded e ring (CANNOT WAIT! i have a feeling i'll talk her into a AVR :Up_to_something: ) She has 1 yellow gold and 1 rose gold watch she wears usually at least once a week.

She has a very good job in an office building, and her hobbies include cooking and gardening, some knitting, crafts and such. So anything would really fit her lifestyle.

If anyone else has an idea for this type of lady, I would love them. Used is good too, but unless its a really great deal id rather not buy it right now. Wedding is in november.
I thought maybe a ring, but that doesnt feel right, unless maybe a trinity or something like that....

anyway, ALL help is appreciated. :wavey:

What a generous gift for your mother!! So sweet!

Have you contacted IDJ? I think most people are happy with their DBTY pieces, as long as you specify "PS quality" stones.

As for BGD, those diamonds will be super tiny so keep that in mind. How about a mother's/family ring? Would she like something like that? Or maybe a DBTY with a single larger diamond?

I can't wait to see what you choose for her!

I looked on their site and they didn't have one so I wasn't sure if they will would be able to make one.

Yeah those stones aren't as big as I'd like but my budget doesn't afford me too much.

I thought about one larger diamond but I couldn't probably afford more than a. 25 ct st most.

I thought about a pendant but the settings for them is so expensive. I found a nice eye clean. 3ct round st JA but I'd have to find someone to make a gold dbty style bracelet for first cheap and I haven't yet.

Yeah, IDJ has made many DBTY pieces. When I was looking to create a custom DBTY necklace, I got a quote from them. So definitely inquire...it can't hurt!

I got the BG bracelet and retuned it because the stones were so small and the bracelet so dainty for the price.

What did you go with instead?

What if you did a DBTY style with sapphires or another gem (maybe spinel?) instead of diamonds- like the Tiffany ones? Another option is to ask Daniel M on Etsy for a quote. He's done quite a few for people on here. Or one larger sapphire with a couple of smaller diamonds in a DBTY style?

id considered doing it with emeralds and diamonds, sense thats my sister any my birthstone, but ma is really a diamonds gal, ive never seen her wear a gemstone. hmmmm :read:

For now I have a qvc fake. I have decided not to buy one because its flipped 99% of the time and I hate that.

Niel, as a mother who had a daughter get married a couple of years ago, I would not have expected such a gift and would not have wanted my daughter to spend that much money on me. I think it is a sweet and generous thought, for sure, but there are many nice things you could do for her without spending $400. I don't think $400 will work for a DBY. But what about a pair of gold earrings?

Blue Nile has some nice looking ones:

I really like the tri-color love knots and hoops!

I second DS's suggestion for something from Blue Nile! Sometimes they have coupons/promos too, if you sign up with your email.

She's not big enough into plain gold earrings, or jewelry really in general. And the style of blue Niles more affordable things doesn't really go with Ma.

Those huggies are nice. My only concern is sense she already has earrings, shell never wear a second set.

I popped over to Gabriel and co to look for some reason and I noticed their new site has some pretty amazing stackables. I'd consider one of those but it would have to be small and that's not really the vibe I wanted. But shoot some of those are cool I'm going to have to remember myself when I'm going to get a stack started.

Cheapest is IDJ
Cheaper (which I went with for my DBTY necklace) is ERD with F/G VS2, which I think is a higher clarity than IDJ's PS melee.

I suggest getting a quote from both and negotiate a bit. :-)

BGD diamonds - I  . BGD jewelry tends to be out of budget for me. ;(
