I was at Derco in SF yesterday and I saw one exactly like it (from what I can see from DS stock photo)
I mentioned it to Derco that I've only ever seen that setting from Dimend Scaasi and they seemed very surprised almost shocked that someone else carried it. They even questioned me as to where and what store and said that it is only made by one supplier in the east coast area.
I ordered the setting and it will take about three weeks since they have to send the diamond out to have the setting made. I asked whose marking will be inside the ring and they said theirs (Derco) since they are the ones selling the ring to me.
ETA: my diamond was not purchased from Derco, dont know if that makes any difference just thought to add it.
There are very few rings that are truly original. There are probably duplicates out there of every style. And it is of course possible that DS does order that ring from another source.
"When you look at dimend SCAASI™ jewelry you will find designs that you won't see anywhere else. In addition to our original in-house designs, we bring in the work of designers whose work we respect and admire, such as the intricate vintage inspired work of Beverley K and stunning tension settings from Gelin Abaci, premier designers of tension jewelry."
and
"Whether you choose a design from our website or retail gallery or you have an idea for a custom design, your ring or jewelry will be made to order to your exact specifications. That means that the choice of metal(s), stone(s) and details are entirely up to you, down to the most exacting features. All of our settings are made entirely from scratch, and we are here to work with you through every phase of the process, from planning and budgeting through design and delivery."
I wonder if Derco is getting the setting from them??
It's not that important, more of a curiosity.
