I would like to know more about my good natured friend sevens-one....!

"The details of my life are really quite inconsequential...Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Cloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius passess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was
placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my *********. There really is nothing like a shorn *******...it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it."

Believe me this is alot more interesting.

Well I have decided to “share” today.
I tend to hide behind humor so here goes:

Who’s Sevens One?
It depends on who you ask
2.gif

Basically I’m the One mother of Seven wonderful kids.
16.gif

I grew up in a fun, loving home. With two brothers and two sisters, there was never a dull moment.
My parents are two of the greatest people you will ever meet. Honestly they are Saints right here on Earth
12.gif
I am truly honored to know them much less have them as my parents.
They have 20 grandchildren and among my seven, I have the first and the last. ( for now)

My family gets together often and although it can get crowded, it’s always a blast.

I met my husband when I was young and we married too young

It’s been one hell of a struggle.
But we have seven sweet kids and a beautiful home together.
The kids’ ages range from 18 years to 18 months. After we had our first two we took an eight year break and then decided to have another. Well, we ended up with five more.

My Love for diamonds started when I was young. My mother had a beautiful 1.05 ct RB set in a platinum Cartier style mounting. It was super white and clean. I would wear it or sit and stare at it’s sparkle. I was hooked early on.
I used to work for an insurance company and we used a Diamond Vendor for jewelry claims. Well, I got a “tour” of their office and a brief education of diamonds.
That was it. Hubby told me to get a Diamond ring and that started my “upgrade journey”.

As you can imagine my life consists of the usual “mom” stuff: diaper changing, cleaning up the toys, filling out college applications, cooking, cleaning the toys again and trying to match socks

For the most part the first six kids are very healthy but then I had Angello. My sweet little Prince.
12.gif
He was born with a non-functioning Left Ventricle in his heart also known as Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. I was unaware of any problems during my pregnancy. When he was born he wasn’t breathing well and then started to turn blue.
Later at our local Children’s Hospital it was also determined that he was born with a cleft palate and a non functioning left Kidney.

With his Heart condition the choices are to do nothing, heart transplant or a 3-stage surgical repair. I opted for the surgical repair.
At one week he had his first repair and he had the 2nd repair when he was 8 months old.
He has undergone many procedures, heart catheterisations and his cleft palate has been repaired.
After the initial seven weeks in the hospital he came home on oxygen and a feeding tube.
He was weaned off the oxygen in August, I’m happy to say but he is a very stubborn guy and doesn’t take much interest in eating. He will have to have his feeding tube placed surgically in February.

I’m sorry this is so long-winded but this is my life. He’s a happy, spunky little guy who lights up my world. And I hope that he has a long, happy life.

*** I hope these pictures aren't too much ***

Here is Angello after his first surgery (one week old)

Here is a picture of one of the many nights keeping vigil over his bed.
My daughter snapped this and I didn''t even know she had taken it until later when I checked the camera.

I've told you privately and I'll reiterate it here--you are a wonder. A beautiful, spunky, wise, patient, considerate, funny, talented, and loving mother, friend, wife and person. I am truly humbled by your endless stength and courage, and proud to call you my friend.

Thanks so much Jennifer.

Where to start?
What an awe inspiring story. Your Angello is such an adorable little boy. Your strength is amazing. I have two kids and both have had tough times medically, but not at all what you''ve been though. You have a great sense of humor and are a great mom.

Thanks, Nan, for sharing with all of us. Everyday, when my 2 kids are on my last nerve, I think of you and how you handle it all so well. I slap myself silly and tell myself to be strong yet easy-going like Nan!
9.gif
And even with your busy life, you always find time to chat with me about our mutual obsession . . . . diamonds!

I know I''ve told you this before, but Angello has the sweetest twinkle in his eyes. He is an angel.

They are precious and Nan.....that 16 yr old daughter of yours is stunningly beautiful!!! She must take after her mom

I''m an only child and my hubby is one of 5 and I always love being around his big family, especially the holidays with everyone''s little ones. It wasn''t in the cards for us to have any children, so I enjoy spoiling my neice and nephews! Thanks so much for sharing a little bit of "you" with us

Beautiful family Nan. And your ''Angel''lo- LOVE those two bottom teeth! I am in cardiac ultrasound- and scanned an early Norwood procedure patient about 2 weeks ago...she is going strong! She is thinking about having a baby soon....so I will probably be part of the team tracking her through it all.

This forum is so nice, it is great to get a little glimpse of the others around here...losing some of the anonymity, but gaining some larger sense of community.

How old is this patient? From what I understand they have only been doing these procedures for a little over 20 years.
It''s so great to hear about the "adults" - gives us all hope for the future.

Ooooooohhh wow. What an awesome little guy. That is truly amazing and to see him so happy. You have a beautiful..BEAUTIFUL family. I hope that I have a family like that someday. My heart is just welling up...I wish there were a smiley on here to reflect it.

And I absolutely agree..you are a wonderful person and I'm so glad that I've gotten a chance to know you.

Edited: And Libster is right! That daughter of yours should be a model! What beautiful hair and eyes she has. What I wouldn't do for hair that pretty!

No, the 3 yr old is pictured in the "Havin Fun" shot.

Nan, you have such beautiful children. The first pic where Angelo was hooked up with tubes really broke my heart. Your oldest son is quite a looker and your oldest daughter is gorgeous. Wow! The rest of them sure look like they are a fun bunch. How on earth do you even have time to help people out at PS?
