Door Knob Solitaire...we''d love to hear all about the person behind those hilarious and heartwarming posts...won''t you tell us more about yourself and what makes you tick? Inquiring minds want to know!!
35.gif

Awh Monnie, thanks for asking. That is really sweet of you.
16.gif

Well, I suppose you didn''t know, but I am part of the witness protection plan...shhhh. I will have to make an inquiry to my agent and see just how much I can reveal. My safety is of the utmost importance, of course.

I would love to tell you everything, but if I do, well it wouldn''t be safe for you either
32.gif
.

Let me call him, and I will get back to you as soon as he responds...

We could just copy and paste all my old threads...like a quilt you could pretty much piece me together in no time. I am not known for being short on words...or opinions. I haven''t been in this forum much., let me see what the norm is...don''t want to be the odd ball. eh hem.

good idea monnie...dks, i hope you''ll share a little bit more about yourself too. without revealing your true or is it secret identity of course

Well DKS...no pressure. Whenever you are able to concoct a good story about your previous lives feel free to let loose here.
2.gif

Seriously, though...your favorites to start, maybe? Favorite foods, favorite books, favorite movies??? The WPP has surely prepped you for those questions...LOL!

Monnie...I was searching all over PS for the WPP...what is that? You crack me up. I finally got it. Oh yeah! The WPP that I am a member or part of...or what ever they call me!

I have never done anything like this...I couldn''t get a grasp on the others threads in relation to me. The "WPP" as you call them, said I can tell you vague things. Really boring things...

I am a wife, a mother to 2 sets of four paws with two wet noses. Our lives are on pause while we tend to their every whim. My interests are mainly yakking. I love architecture. And talking. Interior Design. I like to hear my voice( not really it doesn''t sound like it should...very annoying actually-imagine that). Nutrition. I find that I have something to say on just about everything. I adore animals. You won''t find a spare moment of silence in my home...my mouth is usually engaged. I do enjoy swimming as I am a water baby...I find it is hard to talk underwater, so I usually keep my head out and above, ha ha. Just kidding I am a long distance swimmer. I seem to be able to talk to most animals. Wild deer, turkey, squirrel and even aquarium fish seem to like me. I can talk flying ducks into stopping for a visit. I bet they are just curious ...and truthfully I only did it once. Shopping-really not the buying kind of shopping, just the looking kind of shopping because I have to go home and think about it for days and research it and make sure it is a good deal. Then I talk about it for about another week. Shopping for the prefect presents then for the wrap and matching accessories. Modern sleek minimalism is my sweet spot. I am an old classic movie junkie...and like to talk about old Hollywood. I will post my favorite movies for you. My first favorite is Its a wonderful life...I think about it all year long...even use key phrases alot. When hubby recognizes them I am giddy. I like to cook...if someone is there to listen to me while I am doing the work. I love roller skating and into that 70''s disco music while I am coasting around the rink (but I haven''t done it for 10 years or so.) I dream in motion. I am swimming flying or skating...odd huh? Or speaking in front a very large crowds. I like to read mystery, suspense, and love stories and prefer they be all in one book. The good book is one of my favorites. It has it all. Classic, contemporary instrumental Jazz music and Big Band I should have lived in the 40''s. The war music seems so romantic to me. I am a morning person...I wake with a smile and excitement for the day ahead. But usually in about an hour or two reality sets in...just kidding. Hubbies passion is cars...so I have it too. Mainly I am my hubbies biggest fan. He is so funny and intense. Wise beyond his years...well, I suppose I am his exception. He didn''t make a good trade when he chose me.

OK was that what you were looking for? Whew...I need a life. It is sorta pathetic now that I see it all before me. Maybe the WPP will issue me an new identity...one that is like-able!

Thanks for expressing an interest, you are a love.

DKS, that was a very proper attempt at explaining yourself! I wish you could hear me giggling to myself as I read through your latest post here...I''m sure many other PSr''s feel the same when I say that whenever you post we can FEEL your enthusiasm, thoughts, and emotions in your writings. You didn''t list "novelist" as one of your talents, and I wonder why!

I nominated you because I think you''re very adept at perceiving what is really going on when people post questions here, and that you''re always extremely helpful when someone needs guidance. You''re one of those personalities who really stands out in the crowd (cliche, sorry...), and I think I speak for many when I say we want to know all about you!

Do tell more...where did you grow up? Have you always lived in the same place, or did you move around a lot? Obviously you don''t have to answer if you don''t feel comfortable doing so... but again, inquiring minds want to know what shaped such a dear kindred soul!

Where do you live? What did you study in school? What are you trained to do as a job? Are you working outside the home now? Are the wet noses attached to dogs or cats? Please keep talking!

what''s your favorite food? favorite vacation spot? favorite dessert?

oh and i think i read in your old, not to be mentioned thread, that the DKS wasn''t going to be replaced until you sold your house? is that correct? if so, are you still selling and where are you moving? and what is the timetable for replacing your beloved DKS??

DKS,
I can always count on you for a laugh. Do tell us more.

Yikes...I can''t take this pressure. I didn''t realize it was going to be so hard to yak about myself. I just find it hard to do. Now the yakking part...I can do that for hours...

When my class reunion questionnaire arrived, I yakked just like I do here. It was all printed in a book and I was the only one who wasn''t specific. I think I mentioned my passion for Starbucks and silly stuff-nothing of substance. Others came off with far more impressive entries.

I am a tad more reserved here, than others. That statement seems to be an oxymoron as it is evident of the length of my posts, I am anything but reserved. So please don''t be offended if this post doesn''t divulge what you hoped it would.

I have a reputation to maintain...and one of the theories of my identity...especially from poster Scarletta...she believes me to be a comedian by night. Others have left other suggestions. As I started this thread under the guise of Witness Protection Plan...it must remain a secret of my identity. For all of our sanity''s!

I grew up in Houston Texas...where manners and etiquette was the most important thing. Once I saw how it affected people...it was as natural as breathing. As a child I entered a room of adults and waited to be addressed. They were all a Mr. Jones or Mrs. Jones....yes Mam, or yes sir. My presence at an overnight stay was sort of a lottery...as the parents thought their munchkins would magically obtain manners that had been instilled in me. I was sort of paraded around like a circus clown to their neighbors. The neighbors would laugh when I would open my little manner mouth. I suppose that is why I love this place so much...I have room to yak. And interrupting someone is as easy as opening a new thread. I finally have found my communication wings! My brother and I made my mother proud with our little manners...and that was all that was important. It did open some doors for me, I will admit.

In Texas the manners are first...but what follows is a state law. Football. Football. Football. Little boys start young and practice everyday...little girls are dressed up in little skirts and ponytails and handed fluffy pom poms and cheer-leading is encouraged. Brother was on the field forever ....and I started yelling a cheer at 4. Began dance...and was in Patsy Swayze''s school at the time Patrick was getting noticed...3 years later I believe he was starring in The Outsiders. I spent every night sprayed with down with mosquito repellent under the football lights and Credence Clearwater revival blaring on the intercom system dancing our routines ready for next weeks performance. My favorite thing to do was roller skate. I still dream of the freedom I got while around the rink. I knew every word to every song, I thought...you won''t believe what I thought they were singing about. My family was active in our endeavors and mom and dad always attended games in matching team colors. That was just done then. Big hair was in too. Mom had big Texas hair. And usually a bucket of fried chicken. Of course her potato salad which to this day she will snarl at the site of YOURS...hers is the only salad of merit. Period. (have had years of therapy on that issue...it is instilled deep I must tell you.)

Dad was a smoker. And also a meat smoker. He designed the first meat smoker eva. (I learned later that was phoey) anyway there was always smoked brisket or ribs...the kind you have only once in your life...or while in the south. These were incredible. As a vegetarian I shutter at my description, but I assure you my mouth is watering and drooling as this is the first I have thought about it for years. Family had their own secret sauce recipe...and we got this brilliant idea to open a restaurant. The only place they could afford was in the bad...really bad part of town. Mistake. Long story short...no more restaurant. But mother did get to see the public''s reaction to her potato salad...and it was most redeeming for her.

Our white walls in our house were actually an ivory color. I thought they were painted that way. I later learned it was the tobacco staining. I suffered tonsillitis and was always crouping. High fevers and usually sick all the time. I was a tiny little thing. Never put two and two together and added the 3 packs of cigarettes my parents went through each day. They never would have if they knew. I suppose that is why I am so adamant of addictions...they seem to make the real stuff the important stuff fall through the cracks, huh?

Chapter two to follow: lightning storm have to hold the paws of my children...they are little wimps.

This is really uncomfortable...how ever did the rest of you do it?

One of the things I know I will never find in another dog that I found in Biscuit was his fearlessness. He was extremely intelligent and knew that painful things happened at the vet''s, yet he loved to go there (unlike any of my previous dogs). He also like nothing better than to stretch out on the deck in summer and enjoy the sound of the fireworks on the 4th of July. Thunderstorms didn''t faze him. My cocker spaniel used to wedge herself behind the toilet during thunderstorms and my Golden Retriever used to stick her head under the bed, secure that if her head was buried that no one could see her, I guess....

Indeed. But I keep coming back to this thread to see if you have posted something new since I see you as having been the last poster...and it is just the above comment that I see again and again. It is Sunday evening. Surely you can post a little more about yourself now? ;-)

Monnie--THANK YOU for starting this thread.

DKS--I''m dying to hear more; I absolutely adore your posts so a thread devoted to YOU is just pure heaven! Have you ever read anything by Rebecca Wells? She''s a southern writer, most famous for Little Alters Everywhere and The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Your descriptions of your childhood remind me of her writing so very much. If you haven''t, I bet you''d like them. They''re wonderful summer reads. In fact, I re-read them both every summer.

More, please!

Oh I have been waiting for this thread! DKS I would love to hear about you more...how long have you been married? How did you meet your husband? You are always helping out on the Proposal board, would you share your story? You always sound so happy when you talk about him.

Hey gang! I so appreciate your enthusiasm to learn more about me. It is a humbling experience, and unexpected.

I do love to write here on PS...and I do try my best to convey some laughter or silly quips...but opening up and revealing what is under the persona is really difficult for me. I have read through others WW and I can''t seem to find a matching style, so it feels strange for my silly vague ramblings while everyone else is so open and giving. I feel like I am short changing you...as you are so thoughtful to ask for more.

Deb my wet noses are the canine variety...that eat salmon and tuna...so technically they are 80lbs of feline. I hope to post you a picture soon. It has been awhile and I can''t remember how it is done.

Mrssalvo I can eat Mexican food 7 squares a day. Nothing better to me. I haven''t gone many places, but for me nothing beats southern California. We had hoped to venture North on the coaster and take in the whole state...and then we adopted the two children and can''t travel any longer. They aren''t socialized, and would eat the hotel staff. Please tell me you understand I am talking about the pups. dessert...anything. Well, it has to be gooey to really hit the spot. Yes, I told hubby to wait until the ponderosa was sold. It is a money pit. I will expand on that later. But when the $$$ comes in I will have no hesitation on replacing my lost loved one. I must confess it is hard. Really hard waiting. I know you know far too well.

Haven I will give R. Wells a look. Do you mind if I read her in the month of February? It is usually our coldest part of winter... there is no taboo about reading a summer book in the winter is there? Like wearing white before Easter? If so...shhh, don''t tell.

Thanks Mischa...I really have a great guy...but I must confess the reason I have so much stored up romance for the proposal thread...is I didn''t actually get one! I''ll have to tell you that story later too! I appreciate that you notice. I really do love that subject. Just today hubby drove across town to go to Whole Foods just for me...I mentioned I would go at the end of the week...he came in with our usual WF staples...and a chocolate bar and smoked cheese just for me! Two of my most favorite things. It is usually when he says I got you something...that I see the most romantic side of him. It may not be something you would find romantic...but something I need. He once surprised me with a toilet wax ring. This is what you toilet sits on to make an air tight seal. There was another time he brought me a chrome wire basket that attached to the toilet tank to house a 6 pack of toilet paper. He was so proud of that. (I returned it the next day...it somehow reminded me of that silly 80''s invention that was a hat with two beer cans attached. You suck on a plastic tube and are never out of beer?) Well as I say, the billy bob chrome wire toilet paper basket got returned. But his thoughtful sentiment was priceless...

I will try to share some whoppers here with you guys. I do have some doozeys!

DKS, you''re doing fine! Please don''t think you have to match writing styles or "measure up" as far as what you care to share about yourself here on this thread. It''s soooo not a competition, dearie! Share what you want to, and leave out what you don''t. We all love you anyway.

Tell us again what kind of dogs you have? I can''t remember for the life of me. Like AGBF stated in the thread she started about not being able to keep up with all the threads and feeling like she''s missing out sometimes...I kind of started your who''s who for those reasons! Everyone shares bits and pieces here and there but it gets confusing when there are so many posters and so little time to remember who wrote what, LOL!

I read your last post on my thread and responded...but i''ll say it again here...I have added the author you mentioned to my reading list and when I go to the library this week will look for some of his novels. I''m excited to have a new author to read, thank you for the recommendation!

Hi Dks...even though I''m technically a newbie to PS I''ve had a looong run of lurking! And in that lurking I''ve found I''m always
smiling at reading your posts. At the beginning of reading your posts...you know before I actually get to all the funny zingers that are sure to be waiting! (Like the blank post in the V-Day gifties post...I laughed out loud! Totally got it & appreciated it!)
So, I just wanted to chime in with the pleas for you to share a little about yourself! Please?! From one fellow March Baby to another??!

DKS - I would love to hear about your fur-babies! I love mysteries, too. Do you have some good ones you would care to recommend? My obsession started with Nancy Drew at a young age.

Ok DKS, since you seem to feel weird talking about yourself (which is weird, fyi) you should post some pics and talk about them. Maybe that will make it easier.

Great advice everyone...I will post some photos of the faces I can show you!

(when I remember how that is)

I thought of something funny to tell you that happened in 7th grade...yeah I know that is a long time ago..well...not real

Anyway there were tryouts for the swim team. It wasn''t actually a team just more like a class...but you have to prove you could swim, dive, and save a life. Which I think was a blow up doll ...
32.gif
yeah really. That kind. Not kidding. Where else do you get a full size body shape? OK that in itself is something that therapy should have been offered...but again...lost opportunity. (are you keeping count?)

OK the coed group is all along the sides of the indoor pool. Of course the girls are back a tad because they are self conscious and all. The coach blows the whistle and I am supposed to dive into the pool swim the distance and save Barbie. I dive in and start stroking when I realize my lime green bottoms are no longer with me, but sinking down to the bottom of the pool...I do a loopty loop all under water and dive to the bottom, retrieve them and slip them on...kinda all in one motion continue on to Barbie...grab on to Barbie...and there was something to grab if you know what I mean...
31.gif
It may have been the standing ovation I received from the boys section...or the fact that they couldn''t swim for the laughing...but when the votes got counted...I won! Captain of the 7th grade swim class! Imagine that! Moral...I learned early on how to get votes, and how advancement in life was but one itsy bitty article of clothing away from success. (just kidding I never used that tactic again). Honest!

Like I said, my thread is going to be a tad different...but I think I might try to fill it with flair. I can''t tell you things that will identify me...for obvious reasons...that last paragraph could ruin me! But I promise to try to touch on things you may find interesting and do my best to entertain. I hope to get out of the childhood stories-soon...as I am going to need some serious couch time.

I need to edit that last post...and I am locked out...oh poo. Checking here to see if I can post a regular post...

DKS, that pool story is a hoot. I think most girls who are swimmers (myself included) have lost or had lifted up a piece of the 2 piece suits at one time or another. I had it happen while going down a water slide right when you hit the bottom and the impact of the water lifted the top right in front of a cute 16 year old boy. talk about embarrassed. I only wear whole piece suits to the water parks now

Well, hello there, my favorite stone twinkie!!!
35.gif
I am so glad Monnie started this thread...thank you, Monnie!

DKS, I would love to know more about you...every time you post (whether there is actually any writing or not!
9.gif
) is full of viv and vigor, and we all enjoy your flair for writing and I personally look forward to every post you make.

Most importantly, you have a huge heart which comes through in your words, you always seem to know what to say to bring a chuckle or a thoughtful muse, and you are a priceless gem in my opinion.

Thanks for all you bring to PS, my friend!!!

We luvs ya!

DKS~ I can''t believe it took me so many days to find this thread. You absolutely crack me up!

I grew up in TX, too. And, you forgot to mention, besides the potato salad, every woman has her own cornbread recipe. And, she will stop at NOTHING in order to sabotage yours!! She will freely give you the "recipe", however it will be missing several key ingredients. You will make it and present it to your friends and family, and they will wonder why your stripped down corndogs and served them the soggy remainders.

Hmmm. I lost my bikini top once. But, it was in a creek, so nobody saw anything. Except the guy I lost it for....

Anyhoo, with complete respect for your anonimity, at least succumb to more stories.
What was the first meeting with your DH? Did he sport a beer hat?
When did you know you loved diamonds?
Why did you become a vegetarian?

I have no words, DKS, for the story of how you were appointed swim team captain! ROFL just about does it, though.
9.gif
Please share more, you are such an entertainer! (Yes, "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin, is in my repertoire...I''d be happy to play it for you sometime, hee hee...)

Oh, what a funny story! I truely enjoy reading your posts! Your humor and wit are priceless!

I am another huge fan... tell us something else about you!! Maybe show us you fur babies!

Where are you, DKS?
