Dee is our resident axe murderer and a wonderful friend who helped me through a difficult time.

Dee, I would love to hear all about you. I love your sense of humor and your stories about The Demon.

Oh Skippers, I’m so flattered you started this thread! Geez… I hope my life is interesting enough to merit it!

Lorelei, I would think you get enough of me in the WWT, ha ha!

Harriet, you are FAR TOO kind. I really did nothing (but that offer to come to Chicago and drink with me is always open!).

Linda, my sense of humor is definitely my most valuable asset--especially when it comes to the ability to laugh at myself!

Hmmm… where to start…

I am originally from Pittsburgh but I’ve lived in Chicago for 20 years now so this is what I think of as “home.” I have an English degree from Northwestern, bolted screaming from law school in the third semester, and then ended up with a master’s in financial markets.

Job wise I spent many years in the financial industry at various firms (my resume looks like the walk down Wall Street!) and most recently was the Chief Compliance Officer for a $5 billion hedge fund manager. My “light bulb moment” hit last July and I realized that selling real estate (which I had then been doing for three years “on the side”) was what I really wanted to do. Although the market is slow right now I have absolutely NO regrets about making the move when I did.

Bill (aka, the HH [happy hubby]) and I have been married almost 10 years. We eloped in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve 1998 (really Jan. 1 for tax purposes). My “sons” of course are Dino the Demon Dog and his loopy brother Oscar, and they keep me quite busy.

I love to read and travel (I just decided on Monday that I’m going to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands next week – any advice on what to take or do while I’m there is much appreciated!). Jewelry obviously is a big passion of mine and my new mission is to buy things “different” than what I’ve already got in my jewelry box (ergo the recent Todd Reed antique rose cut diamond ring). No new *specific* projects planned for the moment, but you never know when you might run across a little something.

I’m also a “serial remodeler” – I’ve made poor Bill move 7 times in 11 years. As soon as the contractor gets finished with my master and third bathrooms and I get French doors in my office we’ll probably start packing for the 8th time (shhh… don’t tell Bill!).

What else??? Ask me anything!

It took you 3 semesters to run? I would have thought 1 would have been enough.

I'll be gone 9 days total, and I'm hiking in Machu Picchu and going to see tortises and penguins (and lions and tigers and bears -- oh my!) and who knows what else in the Galapagos.

The HH is quite jealous!

I met Bill in a Starbucks while I was waiting for the then-boyfriend to arrive.

(There's a long story that goes with that, but I don't want to bore the pants off of everyone.)

No guide for the hike yet... but hey, I've got 8 days before I leave!

I've traveled through some of Europe (Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, England) and South America (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay), and also a lot of the US.

My hero... boy that's a tough one. I think the answer is my Grandmother. She basically raised me, and she is an amazing person. So strong!

I'll have to take some good pics of the boys and put them up. Oscar is SO MUCH BIGGER than The Demon now, it's kind of funny to go back and look at photos from when we first go the puppy last summer.

I LOVE Rome. I''ve been there several times, and I love to just start out in the morning and wander around the whole day. I find something new and fabulous every time! My best vacation ever was when I went there for a week (also by myself) and just "did nothing" the whole time. LOVED it!

Chicago is just an AMAZING place to live! One of my favorite parts is that you can life RIGHT DOWNTOWN. I actually live 7 blocks from the Sears Tower, which is pretty cool if you think about it. I was offered a job a few years ago on the East Coast and even though they were willing to pay me just a ridiculous amount of $$$ I couldn't even consider it.

Food -- pretty much anything is fair game! No anchovies, NO MAYONNAISE, any French Fries must be EXTRA CRISPY, but other than that I'm all for it!

Movies... well... I know you all will find this strange but I haven't been to a movie in a theater since about 1998/1999. The last one I saw was Being John Malcovich (sp?) and I remember thinking to myself, damn, I paid eight dollars and fifty cents for this experience and I don't even know what the f*ck is going on here... That being said, I love: 9-1/2 Weeks, The Breakfast Club, and Blade Runner (the director's cut). I'm also not really a TV person (I don't even know how to turn our TV on -- literally -- but one of these days maybe I'll get the HH to show me... then again, maybe not... )

Favorite book, without a doubt, is Outside the Dog Museum by Jonathan Carroll. It was out of print in the US for a long time but I think you can get it here now. A very dear friend of mine used a rare and out of print book finding service several years ago and got me a first edition, signed by the author, and it's one of my most precious possessions.

What makes me tick?!? Boy, SUCH a large question! I have to mull that over and get back to you with a good answer!

Oh, law school was just a MISERABLE experience for me! Ironicially the professer I had for evidence now lives in my complex and I see him at the gym several times a week. He''s a perfectly nice guy outside of school!

Beverage: damn near anything that comes in a wine glass, and most things in a beer bottle!

My pigges are adorned with I''m Not Really A Waitress -- my very favorite!

Ha! You think THAT buise was good! I once tried to launch myself backwards down the rickety temporary stairs of a commercial space construction side and the guy behind me "saved me" my shoving me forward using my... um... a$$. I had almost perfect fingerprints bruised into my cellulite for days. Imagine how much fun I had explaining that to the HH...
