I’m a huge fan of Christmas lights. Even though DD is now 20 and every year I say “not doing it next year”, mine are almost up.
Im not talking “competition Christmas light display level” because 1. I’m not allowed anything that moves and 2. I’m not allow to climb ladders over 5 feet high (I’m an accident waiting to happen) and DD is a “bah humbug“. So no roof or gutter display. DD won’t help me put them up but will help me take them down. He is often too ruthless with his taking down so every year I have to buy more to replace the ones he wrecked. Strange, Christmas lights and gardening pruning are the only things we “fight” over. Anyhow, I hurt my back. My own fault, rather than lighten the load by doing more trips while getting the bags down from the attic, I went with max weight / min trip number. Ouch.
So it has slowed the process down. I do a mixture of Solar and power. Unfortunately here in Sydney it has been overcast after overcast days. How can my solar lights recharge ? grrrrrr ! And to give me some added excitement I then lost my car keys. I had them, put them down and ?? Being on strong painkillers made me slightly loopy. After a huge search, many hours, I found them in the garbage bin INSIDE the empty dog kibble packet. Oh dear.
Here is a photo of earlier displays.

Same.

I enjoy seeing other people's decorations and pretty christmas lights.
Lovely decorations @Bron357

This is all we do for Christmas because the cats will destroy everything they can lol. It took Greg almost the full year to get our tree back in commission after the cats destroyed the lights.

Last year I gave up with the larger tree and bought this little twig tree and only used my painted eggs that I've collected over the years from various European Christmas markets. I'm sticking with it again this year. It has grown on me. I have a few solar lights outside, but it's daylight here and I don't have a photo, but I don't do much outside.

I love Christmas trees. I don’t do outdoor lights. But this year I ended up with two trees. My son kept hassling me to get one before I was really ready so one day we stopped and just grabbed one and it was kind of small and wonky. I didn’t think the larger one would fit in my car. We got home and I had a lot of trouble getting it in the Treestand because the trunk was so skinny. It was leaning really badly . We decorated it and for a few days I was just staring at it and it kept getting on my nerves.:

So one evening I met a friend for dinner and had a babysitter. On the way back from dinner on a lark I decided to get a nicer tree. I told the guys I’m not sure it will fit in my car and they said sure it will and they tied it to the top but neglected to tell me that they trapped me inside in the process. So I pulled up to my house and open my door and realized it would not open. I had no scissors or anything so I had to text Babysitter to come with a scissors and free me. It was incredibly embarrassing because it was the first time I had ever met her or used her lol. Anyway despite the fact that it was a struggle to even get the tree in the house it’s gorgeous and I put the other tree in a different room.

I like this. This is about as much as I could do... I put up holiday/winter wreathes up outside and that's it. I don't do anything inside and I can't deal with the hassle of putting up an actual tree. I used to always buy those ornaments too, but have not had the chance to travel outside of the US for about 5 years now due to life circumstances.

Very pretty and I love the little white tree.

I love this little tree!

It is really easy. It takes me about 10 minutes to put up and about the same to take down. And it showcases my eggs. I can't find them at the markets anymore. They were there every year and then boom, gone. There is (or at least used to be) a painted egg store in Salzburg. It was amazing. Last time I was there I couldn't find it but I googled it and it looked like it was still open. If I want more eggs, I'll have to go to Salzburg I guess.

I've been really lazy, I put the least amount of ornaments I could get away with. I didn't bother with the outside, other than the colored light bulbs and 'outside tree/lights' on the old store porch. Krampus, the bead embroidered star, the Christmas spider and the pickle have made their appearance though! Some years, I miss having a real tree- but this Balsam Hill one isn't too bad and the lights have a bunch of functions of which I use, maybe, two. (almost always the fade twinkle) It's sparkly but it's almost impossible for me to be patient enough to wait for more of the lights to be 'on' when I take a pic of it. So here it is, with about 1/3 of the lights going

MReader, I just love how your kitty is posing serenely next to your Christmas tree. It looks like Missy’s kitties are doing same. Cats and Christmas trees make everything ALL RIGHT with me. :)

They go hand in hand (when they aren't trying to climb it). That cat is up in years (16) so she's past her destructive days!

the groceries are being unloaded at the front door as i type
we have batteries
(for the lights going into the loo)

Lov love your kitty pix… so cute! Is that how your kitty says “cheeeeeeeeeese”.

People in the neighbourhood where my DS & DIL live really go for it big time. They get professionals in to come and put up lights, and lots of houses have inflatables and other lawn ornaments out.

I’ve been teasing DIL that I’m going to put every bauble they have on the tree, I’ve nearly done it too, I sneak another few on every day, and am determined to get the last 20 or so on if I can

your tree is tv show worthy
i love the blue

Love all the photos! I can’t decide if I should put up a tree this year. We adopted a new kitty and his name is Pepper, but he’s really a Menace! He gets into everything and wreaks havoc in my house. We can’t even keep the wastebasket out in the bathrooms Bc he gets into them and knocks them over. Today I got home and found the watebasket toppled over into my bath tub and the bathroom curtain and rods in the tub as well. Everyday I am picking broken things off the floor. The other day he toppled over my cake stand!
I might just have to live vicariously thru you guys!
