Just curious if you or husband cooks dinner?

My SO has dinner ready for me when I come home. All of my friends/colleagues sound so surprised when I tell them. They all say "WHAT?? I wish!" or "Lucky girl" etc etc. Is it really that rare? My father cooked growing up, so I guess its what I am used to. So I dont think its all that unusal. But maybe it is? Difference is, I usally clean the kitchen/do the dishes after dinner since he is the one who cooks, where as my dad cooks and cleans up for my mom. Now that I know is unusual!

You are a lucky gal. My hubby will grill, he''s great at it.. But I do most of the cooking. In my circle of friends, I only know one hubby that does all the cooking. This will be a fun thread!!

My dad too!!!

My hubby cooks; he taught me to cook so now we take turns but he is the much better cook!!!

I think I am the better baker though! hehe

My dad does not cook. If mom''s gone, he can fry up a burger or whatever, but that''s the extent of it. JD loves to cook, so he did the cooking up until the end of April when I left one part time job. I''m home 6 days a week now, so I''ve been doing it.

I do the cooking and even the grilling, but my husband has packed a lunch for me every workday for the last 20 years. Yay, hubs!

we both do..he''s actually better than I am

I do the cooking, but FI does the cleaning. I say it''s a good deal.

I cook, but DH washes all the dishes. It works for us - I don''t mind cooking, but I HATE washing dishes.

In our house, I''m head chef and he''s sous chef, but he''s plenty capable if I want a night off. Also - I typically don''t like doing meat or pasta, so DH takes care of those things - and makes killer waffles.DH grew up in a house where his parents enjoyed cooking and cook together, and I grew up in a house where only my dad cooked, so there''s definitely no gender discrimination in our house when it comes to the kitchen. But, I''m a little more creative with ingredients and I enjoy cooking, so that''s why I usually edge DH out a bit in terms of whose domain it is.

We both do. DH had dinner ready for me when I got home today. I was gone all day and didn''t eat much, so it was very welcome.

I always make breakfast for DH and myself. I usually do all the day to day meal planning and cooking. About once a week, I will come home after work to a wonderful smelling kitchen and DH will have dinner ready. DH makes the best homemade pizza (including pizza dough) and the best traditional Hungarian goulash. He also makes fancy salads with tons of fun things in them. My only complaint is that he uses all the dishes, pots, pans, and chopping boards when he is cooking.

My dad didn''t help with cooking at all when I was growing up. I love that my DH does and he receives a lot of praise from me for that.

Not married yet, but I cook much more than she does and I don''t anticipate that changing after the wedding.

I do the cookling - buit only when I''m not working, and not dog-tired from working.

DH cooks. I bake (occasionally).

We alternate. He cooks some things just really well, and I cook some things really well. Usually it''s me asking him what he wants and him not wanting to decide what he wants.
But if I cook I like to clean as I go. If he cooks he seems to expect me to clean up after him(that''s something we''re working on.)

He makes delicious Broccoli Beef, and he''s so good making chicken tender.

I cook because most days I''m home from uni before he''s home from work so I have the time to. If we''re home at the same time we both cook together. On weekends he cooks more.

We both enjoy cooking so who does it depends on what''s convinient.

I''d say that''s pretty rare. Lucky you!

I love to cook! But I love it when men can hold their own in the kitchen, anytime that happens in a double-income couple or family is a wonderful thing. I think it''s really lovely that your SO has dinner ready for you when you get home. I actually don''t think that it''s all THAT rare anymore, and I do hear women whose SO''s cook often say that they handle the cleanup afterwards. It''s great teamwork and very conducive to a healthy relationship!

My hubby works Friday thru Sunday, I work Monday thru Thursday, so he does most of the cooking

My husband does it all. He usually does the dishes, cooks dinner and does the grocery shopping. I have it made.

I cook but it''s a labor of love for me. I love cooking. It drives me nuts when DH is in the kitchen because he makes the biggest mess. He makes a mean spaghetti sauce though and he''s great at grilling so he still has his place.

Ack! Okay, I admit it, my husband does almost all the cooking these days. Our kids are grown and rarely home, and darn it, he''s a superb cook! This is something that happened over the last 5 years I''d say. But we''re 26 years in, so I guess I don''t feel that bad. I''m kind of sick of cooking to tell the truth. I wonder if other women go through this once the kids get older and a lot of the meals are just for two?

I cook and I also clean-up. I deserve more diamonds!

He cooks more than I do, I admit. He learned to cook late, and so tends to cook from recipes. I learned to cook early and so tend to just...cook. He is good at picking really good entree dishes, we both do vegetables, and I do the salads and dressings. I have better basic skills as far as cooking without recipes, and do virtually all the baking. We both clean up.

I do most of the cooking, when he ''tries'' God knows what the kitchen looks like! He''s good at the BBQ though.

I do pretty much all the cooking. SO has 4 dishes in his repertoire, 2 of which are new this year, so i hold out hope for the future
36.gif
oh and he''ll man the bbq too!

to be fair, i do like to cook, though im frustrated with it where i currently live, the produce etc is rubbish, and is very expensive.

I love to see him cook - he looks gorgeous with a tea towel slung over his shoulder

I cook. Nate can barely load the dishwasher, let alone cook.

SO didn''t even know we have a dishwasher, at our new place or our place! He didn''t believe me when I told him, a friend vouched for me.

I don''t use it, I like to clean as I go. I usually don''t sit down to eat until all the dishes are done except what we''re using to eat with.
SO hasn''t honestly seen the inside of a grocery store in the last three years, I cook and clean up all the meals. SO isn''t a half bad cook when he wants to be either, but he is MESSY in the kitchen, with the mess he makes and doesn''t fully clean up (to my standards anyway) it''s easier just to do it so I know it''s right.

^This keeps my eye from twitching at night while I''m trying to go to sleep wondering if there are spots, etc. Haha
