Wondering if anyone has seen a Whitney Boin setting in person, and what you thought as far as the comfort, polish, and craftsmanship.

Thanks!

P.S.: By the way, I have been meaning to write a review of our great experience with Richard Sherwood. We had to drive over 3 hours to see him in Sarasota, but it was worth it. I''ll post a under a different thread soon, along with more details.

I have seen Whitney Boin settings in person. from what I can tell they are comfortable to wear but I wear a 3.5 and they were size 6 so it''s to be exactly sure. they quality and craftmenship are excellent IMO..

i''ve seen the two post bezel set solitaire in person and it looks beautiful. the craftsmanship is top-notch. unfortunately i didn''t try it on. it''s a little too high-set for my tastes, but i love the post prongs.

i also sat next to a woman on a 6 hour flight and she had the exact same ring. i think the stone was around 1.25-1.5ct, but it look HUGE (2ct+) in that setting. i couldn''t stop staring at her ring....absolutely gorgeous.

you can get different finishes for the ring. my husband preferred the satin-finish, especially for the 3-stone post setting.

have you looked at etienne perret? similar modern bezel styles, but i think the prices are a little more affordable than whitney boin. i''ve heard good things about both designers.

HI, I''ve tried on the Boin rings a lot! I love the styling of them. They are very comfortable and well-finished and weighty and smooth. I tried the classic 2-post with bezel and I was surprised by how unobtrusive the posts are. They look huge in pics but in real life you can hardly see them.

I also tried on several others. The only thing I have heard negatively about them is that the under-bezels have started to be made wider due to some stones getting loose. I don''t know if this is true or not.

Which one are you interested in?

I like the 2 post with hidden bezel. It is elegant and its craftmanship is no less than other top brands IMO. However, fom what I heard from multiple sources unfortunately, it is true that the hidden bezel can get loose and needs to be tighten. For this very reason, the hidden bezel got thicker recently (do not know exactly when but not very long time ago). We chose Michael Bondanza. We would have got Whitney Boin if we had not heard about this thing. It is a nice setting and is worth looking at in person. With insurance, it may be ok if you plan to examine the ring periodically. Hope this helps...

You guys are awesome, thanks for the input.

Angeline, I was looking at the 500PL-3.5, Post platinum engagement "U" mounting.

I am not Angeline ... "U" is very nice and is my preference. I was planning to get the one with side stones. Very nice. Hope Angeline will reply to you. Just wanted to share my preference/experience... EDITED: picture is from Pearlman. Nice people to deal with.

Hey that was my favourite too! I also liked it a lot on the double band wider ring, 6mm. How big is your stone? should look fab whatever size.

Pearlmans has great prices and are very great to work with as gontama said. If you happen to be in Northern CA, Topper''s Jewelers at Burlingame give excellent prices and service too.

BTW gontama, I still haven''t seen any pics of the Bondanza???

I seond that too. Bill Kaplan is really a nice gentleman and his price seems significantly lower for almost every brand.

The attached is the picture of the ring we purchased, again from pearlman web site. This particular ring does not look as good in picture as in real life. It is a simple, pretty and secure setting IMO.

I have not had a chance to play with a camera yet. I have not even used the ultrasonic and jeweljet I purchased about 2 months ago either.

My stone is a 1.14 cushion...I''m looking to see if any of the local jewelers around here have it so I can see it in person.

I like a lot of Michael Bondanza''s designs too...I saw the Madison in person, nice crafstmanship.

Pearlman''s does have a great selection...I was also looking at their eternity stacking rings...I love that idea...
