I will be recieving my Grandmother 3 ct RB in November,

I am looking at either the Excel or the Whiteflash 6 prong Tiffany Replica. The Excel is $150 more that the Whiteflash, I have read good things about both but nothing that explains why one over the other. Is the Excel worth $150 more ? If so why ?

Also my mom will not go for shipping the diamond so I need to have it properly set in Boca Raton, any suggestions ?

Before you get too in depth looking at the WF and superbcert replicas, you should give them a call and check to see if they will sell the settings without the diamonds (or without setting the diamond you have).
Your best bet given that you cannot ship the diamond is likely to shop around jewelry stores near you, find one that you trust that carries a setting you like, and then do it all (purchase setting and have it set) there.

WF won't sell you a setting on it's own, but they will set your stone I believe.

Do you realise that if you have that stone set it will won't be insured against damage if something goes wrong? Basically if it's chips or breaks (very rare, but possibly) the jeweller isn't liable and you have lost the stone? In understand that your Mom would be hesitant to ship the stone, but does she realise the potential risks of having it set uninsured? BTW many PSers have sent their stones through the correct channels. It's perfectly safe and done on a daily basis when using the right companies and insurances etc.

You need to look into having the stone insured, or contact WF or Excel directly to see what their policies are regarding setting a stone that they havn't sold you.

I have contacted both manufacturers and they will both sell me the settings, and they will both ship them as is, so that I can have the ring set locally. I need to have the ring appraised so that I can sent the dimensions to the manufacturer and they can custom create the head. I just am having a hard time pulling the trigger on WF or Excel. Part of me doesn''t want to cheap out but I am not sure what I am paying $150 extra for ? During these difficult times you want to make wise financial decisions....

sna77 had the WF tiffany repro because he bought the stone from them. he ended up switching to the excel version. i''ve not seen either in person so I can''t give you a personal opinion other than I think the excel is the closest to the original tiffany based on pics i''ve seen...just my opinion though. here''s his thread...lots of folks have the WF version though and are very, very happy....
