I bought this stone to surprise my wife
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3114544.htm
7mm x 7.04mm $13.5k
and got it today. It was absolutely beautiful!!! I thought that would make her jumping up and down happy. She's currently wearing a .82ct G, VS2 ex, ex, ex GIA graded.
So the spec of the stones are the same except this new one sparkle like crazy in real life.
First thing she said when she saw the stone was it is beautiful and sparkle, but a bit yellow..even a tiny bit more yellow than her .82ct.
How could that be? They both have G color grade from 2 of the top institutes.
Anyway, I went back on WF website and found this.

$1.3k more expensive at $14.8 but 2 color grades higher, 1 clarity lower and a bit bigger at 7.17mm x 7.21mm
The catch is..it's not an ACA stone because of the crown angle. I think 34 to 35 would make it an ACA, but it's only 33.8
It scores 1.0 on HCA, but given how much I know about diamonds I don't want to just send the other one back for the exchange unless I know for sure it's just as beautiful as the one bought.
Please give me input! I don't want to disappoint the wife the 2nd time. She doesn't know what is ACA or anything like that. She didn't even know what grade or look at the certificate. Somehow her eyes told her it was yellower than her current stone lol.
Anyway, is it worth it to spend another 1.3k for the above or should I wait for the next ACA that is E-F in color to make the woman happy?
