Ok, so there are a lot of varying diamonds on Whiteflash''s website that have different ratings from one star up to five star. Some are VS rated with two stars, some are SI rated with 4 stars. So my question is what do the stars mean in general? Does a 4 star SI2 diamond generally mean eye clean? Or does it refer to the cut because unless you select ES or ACA they don''t list the actual cut rating.

I guess unless all their diamonds are supposedly eye clean is there a general way I can tell if it is likely eye clean? I was thinking obviously probably want to stick with a 4 star if you are going for SI2 and a lower color grade.

Can Whiteflash comment or anyone who has figured this out let me know?

Thanks, sorry if this has been covered.

I believe the stars refer to the cut rating WF has given these stones. ACAs are their top cut stones and they are 5 star. Expert selection is their next step down and they have a 4 star rating. I am not sure about their stones that are not inhouse.

As far as being eyeclean, if you call WF and ask about a particular stone they will tell you honestly if it's eyeclean and to what definition.

You can still get a stone that is lower in colour say I or J, and SI1 or SI2 that are 5 star stones cut wise (ACAs)

Hope this helps.

If it is a stone in-house WF will look at it and tell you if it's eye-clean. You can trust them to tell you where an inclusion is positioned and how prominent it is.

The stars are for cut only. The 1 and 2 star stones are rated based on their measurements so it's not like anyone at WF saw the stone. They can call them in, if you want, but usually what they have in house is what you'd want to pick from. Unless it's a fancy shape. They usually need to call those in.

Also, you can have a beautifully cut stone that is low color and low clarity. The color and clarity is just personal preference.

Thanks ladies!

Ok, so it is simply a cut rating, does a 4 star rating relate to a "very good" cut then from GIA? I would assume yes.

Haha it makes me want to call and talk to them and ask about these, because the certificates aren''t online. Realistically I prob won''t make a purchase for another few months but I get impatient and want to be able to jump on a good deal.

Thanks again.
