Thats a tough one... I don''t even know where to begin!!

oops... I hit the enter key by accident before I typed anything.

I know it is cheaper to pay by wire transfer, but I am not sure if I am comfortable with that, therefore I will be paying by credit card. (I like the extra coverage I have in case something happens).

So my question is this: Is it normal for a company (whiteflash) to ask for a copy of your drivers license and credit card? I have never bought anything online where I had to physically fax or email a copy of these documents in order to buy something.

very funny dod...you beat me too it

Yes, it is very normal for any company to ask for a hard copy of DL and the credit card... especially for large purchases. This is only to help curb identity theft, which is becoming an all to often and recurring problem on the internet. I would fully expect this and would be somewhat concerned if they did not ask for a copy of my DL. BTW, I recently purchased an e-ring via the internet and paid cash by wire transfer... All went well, but that is only in my experience. I think you should be pretty safe because almost all internet vendors require signature upon delivery, and have generous return policies. Of course, having Amex or Visa at your back is sometimes quite reassuring.

joker382,
If I may, what worries you about paying WF by wire? I made a substantial purchase from them and had no problems.

I''m not really too sure, I guess just the idea of them having my account number and transferring all of that money in cash. I couldn''t see myself walking in a jewelry store with large amounts of cash like that to make a purchase. I just feel I am covered a little better with AMEX, and I know if something were to go wrong, at least I have them to back me for whatever the reason.

Good evening joker382.

I just wanted to reassure you and others that we do not ask for your bank account details. We provide you with information on how to wire to us

Joker, I totally understand. Now knowing what I know about WF (and having purchased from them), I would not hesitate to do the wire transfer, but when I bought my ring, everything I read on this site is essentially secondhand knowledge. I went ahead and purchased with credit card and did feel much more comfortable doing so.

They don''t have your account details, you have their account details. I''ve done a few wire transactions with WF and no probs. The extra cash saved is verrry nice!

And when I returned a stone I got my refund back very promptly in full.

HTH, a

As others have said, they have nothing about your account. It''s essentially like writing them an "echeck" or something. It just gets transferred from your bank to theirs. But WF doesn''t have your account info, you only have theirs. You''re sending $, they aren''t coming into your account and grabbing it.

It''s also very normal to ask for a DL for a large purchase, but really, save yourself the $ and just pay by wire transfer. It''s very safe as long as you''re paying a reliable vendor like WF.

And, if you're worried about the stone, have it sent to an independent appraiser first. WF is great to work with.

Hi I have wired WF money on several occasions now with zero problems, they have no info about my account #, balance, even my bank really it just goes through electronically and they just notify me when they receive it and my bank sends me a copy via e-mail of the transfer for my records. WF just sees the money from my account in theirs with my name so they know which order it belongs to I guess and that''s all.
I got my e-ring which was a large purchase for me and I was worried as it was the 1st time I had done a wire transfer and it was fine and now I''ve wired them smaller amounts a bunch of times for other items also with no problems. They are really, really, nice and I think the lady that handles their transfers is Priscilla and she is a doll very efficient and helpful if you have questions etc...
Best of luck!

Do you realize when you write a check it has your account info on it?

Oh yeah AND your name and address?

Take the discount, its not like the discount is too good to be true.

Many, many of us have wired-transfered WF and other trusted vendors. Between wire and credit card, I would say wire-transfer is probably safer because it is a one shot deal. You authorize your bank to transfer a certain amount and that is it. They can''t do any more without your signature. Credit card theft happens all the time. I would trust WF with either, of course, but if you have the money, why not get the discount?

First of all, you are smart to want to protect your hard earned earnings. And yes, there are people and companies that would steal your money, but WhiteFlash is not one of them. They are one of the GOOD GUYS!!!

I did a bank wire transfer with WhiteFlash and everything went PERFECT!!!

Why do you get a discount for a wired transfer over a credit card? Credit cards charge the vendor a "fee" to use their money, so WF gives you an option to save money with a bank wire transfer.

WhiteFlash has great reputation that has been earned, not given. Save yourself some money, bankwire the funds and save 3%.

Good Luck

Wire transfers actually have offer more protection, as screwing around with a bank transfer amounts to bank fraud...a VERY serious offence. There are laws in place to prosecute bank fraud. Credit card fraud, on the other hand, is way more common and your protection pretty much goes as far as the bank you''re dealing with.

I second all the comments here - I recently did a bank wire and MY bank took the funds out of my account and sent it to WF''s account. It was so simple. WF is a great company - don''t have any worries about them. Because I was a pricescope member and paid by bankwire, I got 5% of each of my stones and 2% off the setting. That saved me the difference of Canadian currency exchange rate right there!

If you feel better about a bankwire after you read everyone''s comments, I highly suggest it. Congrats on your purchase!

In case you want one more reference, there is no issue with wiring money to WF. I agree that you might not want to wire money to an ebay seller or somewhere like that. But I wouldn''t even consider that there is any cause for concern by wiring money to a totally reputable company like WF. It''s really not any different than using a debit card either.

I''ve wired money to WF twice in the last month and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. They are totally trustworthy.

Ask I mentioned, I used a CC for my purchase because if anything did go wrong, I felt I could dispute it with the help of my CC company. Maybe my thinking was faulty.

And it never hurts to ask if you can get some sort of a discount with any sort of payment.
