Hi PScopers
I Live in Australia and am new to Pricescope.

I have been reading a lot of pricescope forums and have been learning quite a bit.

I am looking for some advice. I have a pair of diamond earrings (stones .5 each stone) but want to change my setting to 3 prong martini setting. I have seen a martini setting on whiteflash that I like however I need some advice on where to find a jeweller in NSW who will set my stones using the whiteflash setting.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I would really appreciate any feedback. :P

Which settings do you want?

I want to change the existing setting (a basket setting) to a 3 prong martini setting. :)

Well, I meant which specific settings did you want? Because really, I do not see it worth it to order stud settings from the US. I would take a picture to a couple of good jewelers there and have them find similar ones (or make them).

Thanks diamondseeker2006 that is what I initially thought.

Here is the setting I am interested in:

The 14 carat white gold setting which is $195.

The reason I am looking at using this whiteflash setting is that it seems to be a lot cheaper than getting a jeweller here to make the setting. This week I got a quote to make the setting using my existing stones. The quote was $1200 AUD (approx. $960 USD). The quote is for 18 carat white gold - as apparently 14 white gold is not common here.

Something like this should not need to be "made" as a custom job. A jeweler should be able to order stock settings in the appropriate size for your stones. I know jewelry can be more expensive down under but 900+ for simple martini settings and setting services seems ridiculous!

Yes, those are just stock settings any jeweler can order from a supplier such as Stuller. Take the picture to some good jewelers and ask them to order some to fit your diamonds.

Most settings here DO cost an absolute fortune. Even good jewellers charge whatever they like. Especially if you are not getting the stones from them. There are no Stuller retailers listed on their website in Australia, so it isn't that simple. I have a great jeweller here in Brisbane that sets things for me cheaply, if you can't find anyone else let me know, MissKitty uses and recommends a couple of jewellers in the city - she is in Sydney, so hopefully she will see this post.

fyi: There are oodles of jewelers here in the States who offer Stuller's wares -- but who don't pay Stuller in order to be listed in its online Locate A Jeweler database. So there may be a jeweler even in your area of Australia who deals with Stuller -- or who might consider doing so if you brought the possibility to their attention so they could make inquiry:

Thank you for all your feedback.

arkieb1 I would be interested in any Sydney jeweller recommendations from MissKitty, as I haven't been able to find anyone else. I hope she sees this post.

Thanks again.
