Hi Allison,

Thanks, I know Lesley is doing all she can and I really appreciate it.
After much consideration I decide to go with the 0.39 and the 0.72.

I saw alot of dots in the AGS cert for the 0.72 and that kinda scare me but Lesley told me is Eye clean.
Price is also a factor though.

"In all honestly, stones in the .80-.99 range are just as hard to come by as those in the .6x range. It would be much more likely to find a comparable stone to the .39 stone in the future than it would to find a comparable stone to the .84."
I did felt that way too but I believe my Fiancee will be happier with 2 than 1.

Regards
Owen

I would def ditch the decoy idea. What is she going to do with 2 smaller stones? Can she upgrade these stones? You may find she wants to trade both them in for one larger one for her main stone?

I dont' know where she is looking at diamonds but I will bet my VS2 clarity ACA that she CANNOT see inclusions in a properly graded VS2. Unless she has superwoman eyes.

And to discount a 0.59 stone for a 0.60 is a bit absurd, it will look the same, why give up a nice stone to make the paper look nice?

I would urge you to seriously consider WF offer - do you realise that if you don't have those stones set by WF and take them to another jeweller for setting, they are not insured if the other jeweller chips or damages them? And if that occurs, you will have to cover the cost of a new stone (or 2?). With what sounds like a tight budget, I woudn't be risking having two stones set without insurance. I would have WF set them for you and then they are covered. They have beautiful settings, very high quality and they also do custom work.

I am sorry this happened to you, but I really think WF are going above and beyond what they are obligated to in order to please you and make this up. I also wonder if they would be happy to do a good deal on the 0.84ct stone after the title of your thread

WF ALWAYS does the right thing --they really are top notch and mistakes happen. i really dont understand this DECOY diamond thing--it seems like a waste of money--am I missing something. I would really prefer a larger stone than a little one as a pendant and then a smaller ering????????????????/

Agreed 100%, are you sure this is what your girl would want Owen?
As someone else mentioned, if she asked for a 0.6 she probably means at least 0.6 - wouldn''t it be a great surprise to give her a ~0.8 and exceed her expectations?!

I completely agree with arunajane and bgray. If I had said to you that I wanted a .6 ring and you gave me something larger I would be beyond happy and would much rather one larger diamond than 2 diamonds. I think most girls would agree with this!

Anyway just some food for thought, at the end of the day you know your girlfriend and we don''t, so you should do what you think is the right thing. The WF deal just sounds like such a great opportunity to get a larger diamond for a great price.

Most gals would be abit peaved that you spent precious budget money on a decoy. Wouldnt you only do that if you had oodles of money.........and I cant understand why you need a decoy anyway??????

Anyway, I vote for one big impressive rock instead of two smaller ones any day.

I am not sure if I follow the "decoy" idea. Are you buying a smaller diamond to give it to her first, then you will pop the larger one?

Anyhow, I would definitely go for the .84. That size is very hard to find. Eighty pointers are very close to a carat yet do not have the huge premiums a one carat diamond has. There is a huge demand for them. Grab that stone and ditch the "decoy" idea. Your future FI will appreciate that!

Thanks all for the suggestion to drop the decoy and just get the bigger one.
Well I did asked her before if even a choice, would she want a single big stone or two smaller ones.
Her answer was simple, she rather have 2.

The pendant wasn't just a decoy, I had promised to get her one before. so it is also fulfilling my promise to her. Moreover I had already told her that her stone for the pendant is on the way and we will go pick the setting for her pendant next week.

The e-ring will be something she never expect to come together with the pendant. when we go pick the setting =)

Of course if not for the limited budget I would have gotten the 0.39 and the 0.84 but as it is I need to keep to my budget. As I am sure the additional saving would come in handy to see things though smoothly for our wedding preparation and new house.

Just for the record, Lesley had really been helpful in providing me with alternatives. She had offered to extend the additional 5% to the 0.84 and to contra off the full value of the complimentary setting if I choose not to want it. Seriously Lesley and her team had showed me their dedication and commitment to provide first rate customer service to all of their customer.

However I decided to go with the 0.72 after much consideration and I think I had made a wise decision for keeping to my planned budget.

Once again thanks all who have been following and contributing to this thread. I will post photos of the ering and pendant once its done. =)

Oh I see - Well, you did good then. Yes, please come back with tons of pics!

Wow, I would soooo much rather have the .8 stone now and wait for the pendant for my first anniversary. You are missing a fabulous opportunity to get the extra discount on a larger stone! That is a very rare and wonderful opportunity!!!

Just for educational purpose.

Many voice out that differences between the 0.59 and 0.61 is visually non-existences

The 0.590 Measurements: 5.37-5.40X3.33 <- Can''t tell visually
The 0.614 Measurements: 5.51-5.52X3.35 <- Can''t tell visually

The 0.720 Measurements: 5.77-5.80X3.54 <- ??
The 0.840 Measurements: 6.05-6.08X3.73 <- ??

By looking at the above measurements I think the differences between the 0.72 and 0.84 will be small too.
Anyway I think its a endless chase for bigger stone... =)

No, there is more difference in the two larger stones. You would be able to tell the difference. I don't consider it an endless chase because I personally don't care a thing about really large diamonds (although I am happy to see them on others on PriceScope!). If you want this diamond to last a lifetime, I'd really go for the .84 and save the pendant for your first anniversary or even a wedding gift if you have time to save for it before the wedding. You have many future occasions to give her the second diamond!

In fact, I want to tell you that when I was looking for diamond earrings, I first looked at a pair of .70 each at 5.7mm and then I looked at .75 at 5.85mm and I could easily see a difference. So I know the .84 would be visually larger than the .72. (I would be able to see the difference in the .59 and .61 stones, too, and agree with you that you shouldn''t go with the .59)

Yep, I agree. However, Owen seems to have made up his mind!!! Nothing we can do.

Perhaps considering above you may ask admin to alter the title of your thread? imho they have done anything but failed you, and really been quite generous.
Many people use this site as "lurkers" for research, and may not get to the end to read your change of heart.
just my 2c
