I think it looks great!

Thanks. I am new to looking for diamonds, so any input would be appreciated. With regards to WF or any other online retailer, how does getting the diamond mounted work? I may or may not be purchasing the e-ring locally, so it may require me to send in either the ring or the diamond. The ring I am going to get is below:

Have you seen this setting in person? From the picture it looks like the setting my girlfriend has been in search of. Does it have a simple tiffany mount?

as far as Whiteflash goes, they are a very highly reputable vendor. I have purchased from Whiteflash recently and I loved the customer service :)

That diamond is top notch though, i''d still look around to check out the prices.. but because you are over the 1 ct mark i think thats why the price is up just a tad from what i expected

check: goodoldgold.com and jamesallen.com

Yeah, we saw it in person. It is a beautiful ring. She is a fan of solitare''s but doesnt like the way diamond wedding bands look with a solid gold engagement ring band. It is a very dainty band that is very solitare looking, but gives a bit of extra flair to it.

We initially saw it at robbins bros, but I am looking for find a reseller locally that I can purchase it from and still be able to get it serviced if needed.

yeah i understand; my girlfriend loves the solitaire as well. I haven''t even proposed yet.. the ring is burning a hole in my pocket holding onto it lol... but yeah, i haven''t looked into the wedding band yet.

Good luck with your decision

I''m just fixing your link for you.

setting

My advice is that you first check with the seller of the diamond (whoever you decide to purchase it from) to see if they can get you this setting, or if they have something similar. It''s easiest to have your stone set by the seller.

If you want to buy the setting from a local jeweler, shop around first and ask:
1) Do they set stones from other vendors (some don''t) and do they charge an additional fee beyond the cost of the setting to set the stone.
2)Insurance. You''ll want to do a search on PS for threads that discuss purchasing insurance for your stone, so that if you do have it set by a local jeweler, the stone is insured against damage while it''s being set. Search for "Jeweler''s Mutual" or "Chubb" and you will find lots of threads that address this issue. Your homeowners/renters insurance will likely NOT insure a loose stone, but check first with them to make sure.

Jae, you can do this any way you like.

With our customers, most prefer to send the setting in to us because you wouldn''t incur a loss on the diamond in the rare event of damage.

Just make sure the setting you purchase will accommodate the measurements of your stone and you''re good to go.

The specifications look good. And with a Hearts and Arrows cut, it''s very unique and subjective, so be sure to be able to view the diamond in person before making a final commitment or at least have access to a return policy if you get the stone and it doesn''t have the life you''re looking for.

Thanks for all of the advice. I hadn''t even thought about insurance yet, but that is certainly something that I will be investigating before purchasing the diamond.

Can most online retailers get specific settings? So, if I were to purchase a diamond from WF, could they get the Simon G setting for me so that I would not have to purchase elsewhere and deal with shipping things back and forth?

Also, for those that have a H&A diamond...can you notice the difference between a non-H&A diamond and a H&A diamond? Or is it something that can only be noticed when magnified?

Jae, I''m fairly certain we would be able to accommodate this. You should mention it to whoever you''re working with on the diamond and provide all the details.
