I recently purchased a ring, white gold, and took it back to get resized by a 1/2 size larger. When we got it back and noticed that the bottom and a little on the sides turned slightly yellow. They will be fixing this. But I wanted to be sure that this is something I should not worry about, since it is common when resizing, or did I get a low quality setting?

Thanks!

I'm not surprised at the color change. White gold tends to yellow a bit with time and wear (or in this case maintenence). I am surprised they didn't catch it first and re-treat it with rhodium before polishing.

Rhodium plating comes AFTER polishing. Probably the store did not replate the area that was heated, re-sized and polished. It could be done and shoulkd have been done since it is visibly different.

Rhodium plating does not last a long time on a ring worn every day, but the whiteness of it is much different than white gold. We have recently seen some white gold that passes for yellow gold. Those rings will become problems very quickly if someone is observant of the color of the metal and how rapidly it changes.
