What is best for holding the diamond in terms of security - White gold prongs OR Platinum prongs?? and why? Thanks!

Platinum is the stronger metal so it gives a better sense of ''security''. But I rarely hear of gold prongs snapping free either...

I''d go platinum. It makes me feel as though my diamond is super secure (although I think with any metal you should always be careful. Anything can break.

Platinum.... Platinum prongs bend and gold prongs often break or completely fail. Most gold rings use platinum heads because of this very reason.

I''d go with platinum, but my original e-ring did fine with white gold for 30 years. The only downside I had was that the prong tips were worn down some and had to be retipped. But it just seems smarter to go with platinum at the outset.
