Well I have finally decided on a ring, but now the question is what metal do I want the setting in. The ring itself will be in 18K YG and their will be 5 bezeled diamonds on each shank. I am trying to figure out if I should have the setting (which is an X-Prong) and the bezels in White Gold or Platinum. I am kind of in favor of White Gold, just because I think it will look nicer with a shiny yellow gold. The idea of a patina platinum and a shiny YG doesn''t sound all that appealing to me. Can I get your thoughts on this? Is white gold a bad choice for a setting since it is not near as strong as platinum, or will it not really make much of a difference?

Thanks!

I don''t see any problem using white gold IF you can find out the answer to one thing. As we know, over time white gold can turn a little yellow which makes it necessary to rhodium plate it. If you have a two tone ring with yellow and white, is it possible to ONLY rhodium plate the white gold bezel portion?

yes, it''s possible to electroplate part of it.

You''re getting an oval, right? with six prongs?

Plat or WG, it''s your choice...I don''t think safety or patina is a big deal in this case.
