What does everyone think of white feathered inclusions instead of the black dotted ones? I personally prefer them, but I''m no diamond expert.

Reason for this is that after diamond hunting for an engagement ring since June of this year, I''ve seen many-a diamonds with a loupe and I''m a little adversed to those black spotted inclusions.

Would white feathered ones make the diamond less worthy comparatively speaking?

Am I correct in assuming that if a jeweler claims that the stone is VS2 quality, then one would be hard pressed to see any inclusions with the naked eye?

Most of the time feathers are fine. You just need to make sure that it's reliably graded and that the feather isn't big enough to present structural issues. As long as the diamond is eyeclean though I don't really care what the inclusion is ya know? It's more important that you can't see it!

As for whether you can trust a jeweler...it depends. If the stone is a certified VS2 from a reputable lab like GIA or AGS, then the large majority of the time you won't be able to see any inclusions with the naked eye. But there are exceptions and there are MANY exceptions to that if your diamond isn't graded reliably or at all.

I don''t think I like white feathers or black dots! I saw a diamond that was GIA graded VS1 - there was a huge feather on the table. It looks like a big scratch to me and I could see it with my naked eye. The vendor made fun of me when I kept referring to it as the scratched diamond ... LOL.

Ditto, also it is very rare that feathers are a durability concern.

I have a white feather inclusion in my VS2 diamond that I can see with my eyes from a certain angle. It looks like there''s a small white speck of dust or a small white scratch on my diamond. I''m fine with it because i can only see it from the side. From the front angle, I think because the feather is white it''s not really possible to see it due to the sparkle...
