Both diamonds are G, SI2 - no visible inclusions (to me).

#1:
Depth - 64%
Table - 57.7%
Top angle - 37.2
Bottom angle - 40.9

#2:
Depth - 60.3%
Table - 59%
Top angle - 33.5
Bottom angle - 40.4

Thanks for your help!

Forgot to add:

#1 - 1.42 carats

#2 - 1.52 carats

They are the same price.

keep looking. the first is a deep combo, the second is a shallow combo. you want something in between.

what cut?

round cut

I don''t really have the money to get the perfect cut. How much difference will there be between these stones? I bought one in a local store, but there is a 30 day return policy and I noticed one on JA that is very comparable...

What is the difference between a deep and shallow cut?

A deep stone will not reflect light back to your eyes-it will exit the pavilion (bottom) of the diamond. It will also look smaller than an ideal cut stone of the same weight.

A shallow stone will look dark. #2 is definitely a stone that would look dark.

If you can't buy a 1.4-1.5 G SI2 ideal cut, then buy something like 1.1-1.3 cts, or go down to I color! I think it's ok to give up a little bit of cut quality, but you are too far away IMO.

I''ve read posts about some 60/60 diamonds. Are those diamonds ones that would appear dark? I thought I read that people like those.

Little confused.

What''s your budget and what would you like? Maybe we could help you find a well cut stone in your budget. By the way, well-cut stones sometimes appear bigger due to better light return and a brighter appearance. Personally I would take a well cut stone in a slightly smaller size any day.

I like stones in the 60-62 depth range, and 54-57% table range.

Yes, some people like 60 60 diamonds, but you want to keep the depth and table around the 60 - 61% mark give or take, and have complimentary crown and pavilion angles. The first diamond you chose is deep with steep angles, the second is a shallower combo with the angles also. I would prefer if the pavilion angle was steeper on the second diamond.

I would like to spend under $9000 for a diamond. I don''t need perfect. I would just like the best I can buy. Unfortunately, size is kind of important to me as everyone around me is over 2 carats. I would like to have a 1.4 at least. Is it possible to get a pretty well cut diamond for what I want to spend?

I can also tell a big difference between a G and H. I have the setting already (which has G diamonds) and the H didn''t look right to me. I am willing to go as low as an SI2 as long as the inclusions aren''t black or extremely visible. I don''t think I will notice them...

Thank you again for all your help.

I will have a look and see what I can find for you.

Ok if you can stretch the budget a bit - this one is $10, 342 if payment is made by wire transfer.

This one here is not a superideal type of cut we normally see here, but it could still be what we call a nice make of diamond, and if you don't want to drop the colour at all, and if it is eyeclean, it could be a way to get the size you want, with a good cut, in your price range.

If you are interested in this one, then ask the guys at WF for their opinion on this diamond, and whether it is eyeclean or not.

Might check into this one. Need report, and to ask about eyecleanliness.

Have you seen an excellent cut H? A great cut will mask color somewhat, and on the other end, it will show more easily in a not so well cut.

I did see an ideal H compared to a well cut G. I preferred the G. I could see that the H was sparkling more...but, when set in the setting I have, the side of the diamond looked off because it is very open and noticeably tinted compared to the other diamonds in the setting.

I requested a GIA report for that diamond. Thank you :).

I feel like the more I study about diamonds, the more questions I have!

Ok, just checking! Some people truly are more sensitive, I understand.

You guys are lovely. I will definately let you know if any of these work out.

One more question...is there any discount at WF for PS customers? I really like the look of that diamond, but it is a teeny over my budget.

Yes, if you pay by wire discount, you would need to check with them as to the exact amount.

Thank you for the kind words * blush*
