I have only seen the numbers on these two so I don''t really know how they compare otherwise. Which do you think is a better deal? Is the 1.53 going to be noticably larger than the 1.27?

Can't say much about the second diamond. Table is large,..... Cut Class 3B on the table. EGL Certs have a rep for being inconsistent, but that is changing, at least with EGL USA. Total depth and girdle thickness look good. You would need the crown height for a more informed opinion on the quality of the make. Also, fancy cuts in general tend to hold and show more body color than Round Brilliants. An I color princess may appear yellowish to many people.

Clarity might be an issue with the first diamond. It would really depend on the type, size, color, and location of the inclusions. The make of this diamond looks very good. Using the DIY Cut Grader at www.gemappraisers.com the second diamond received the following rating:
Cut: Princess
Weight: 1.27 carats
Table % 75 Grade: 2B
Crown Height % 9.2 Grade: 1A
Girdle Thickness Medium to Slightly thick Grade: 1A
Total Depth % 64.4 Grade: 1A
Polish / Symmetry Excellent Grade: 1A * Not a primary determining factor.

Final Grade: 1B

Hope this info helps.

I think the first one is cut better...but its hard to compare the second without a crown height? Are you sure GIA gave you crown height and EGL didnt? That sounds backwards to me. I would suggest seeing both stones together, the smaller table will probably help the first one sparkle more! I also like the better color grade on the first one versus the better clarity grade on the second...just my opinion though!

Let us know!

Crown height is listed on the EGL cert as 8% on the second one.

can you get ideal-scope images for them?
fancies are hard to judge by the numbers.

It looks like I am going to go with the 1.27 princess from White Flash. Here is a link to the diamond which has both an Ideal Scope Image and a Sarin Report. I don't know what to make of either so all help is appreciated. Thanks for the help.

1.27 Princess

looks great to me :}
It looks like its well cut with small variations which is better than most.
A lot of them have huge variations in the angles of the lower facets.
The girdle is nice thick enough to be safe but not too thick.
The ideal-scope image for what its worth looks good lots of pink and reds and very little white.
It should be a very nice performer.

Are you looking to stay near this size rather than find one with a lower table in the same price range?

The second one will likely appear larger. However, the first one appears to be a nice performer, and the I coloured stone, as PQ noted above, may appear slightly tinted...I wouldn't go above F or a high G in a fancy for this reason alone. In my not-so-esteemed opinion, princesses & radiants show body colour more than any other shape, and you either dig it, or you don't.
