So I 'm getting the ring pictured first made in rose gold. The second picture is what type of engraving I was considering, but it is $350 extra. After looking at Athenaworth's beautiful ruby ring I'm thinking it may be worth it. What are you thoughts?

That is tough. I would prefer the hand engraving where it would show, but it isn't going to show much on the sides of an eternity ring that will be worn with another ring. I do love engraving, though. Who is making the ring?

ERD is making it and he said that there is a guy who does the hand engraving and that's his fee. You're right the only one who will really see the engraving is me lol. Since my ring is pave on both sides I'm wondering if I will wear is alone more and I still need to get a spacer.

$350 seems very reasonable for hand engraving. It would be worth it for me because it's real art. However, I wouldn't want it scraped off by another ring worn against it.

Could you order it sans engraving and then add it later? Maybe then you can wear it for a bit and see if it's something you would really be able to see and appreciate?
Personally I looove the engraving!

Argh. The survey is 50-50! I'm trying hard to stay within budget, but I don't know lol. I lost out on Celentani's aqua for my bday next month, so maybe an early bday present or a good way to spend a little of the bonus I recently earned.

I've personally had an exquisite hand-engraved piece from Tradeshop, and it really made a big difference in the overall quality of the piece. If the symbols or pattern you want engraved are very personal to you, then by all means go for it. I doubt you'll regret it!

I really like the extra engraving its beautiful!

So long as I didn't have to sacrafice something more important to me (ct weight or 14k vs 18k) I'd go for the engraving. It's beautiful and I think it's a detail that will make it uniquely yours and one that you will appreciate in the many years to come.

i say go for it! i had engraving like that on a the side of a ring once and i adored catching sight of it. it also caught the light beautifully, and it just takes the 'special factor' up a notch, IMO!

I would pay for it. I see the sides of my ring all the time. I'm the only person who matters when picking a ring. It's the overall look at matters to me, and the detail of the engraving contributes to that a lot.

Thanks everyone. Between the poll and the comments I decided to pull the trigger on the hand engraving. I figure if I am going to break the budget might as well be for something tangible :naughty: I will post pics once I get it.
