I'm torn between choosing a diamond i can see in person since I'm not an expert.. as opposed to ordering from a reputable online site where I can scope out all the specs and ensure it's a beautiful diamond more empirically?

Just as an example, here are two whiteflash stones.

I've spoken to one of their diamond consultants who said she preferred one over the other.. curious to see what you guys think:

Both excellent round cut diamond 0.8 carats, one is F VS2 the other is I VS 2.

Essentially I'm wondering if a better HCA can counteract a lower color grade.

thanks so much! :)

Cut and color are two totally different animals. I would always go with the best cut stone; color depends entirely on your preference.

They are both graded GIA excellent cut :) are you referring to the HCA to also quantify cut quality? The I stone has a better HCA value and apparently a better ASET? I'm just curious if that could offset the lower color grade as the most beautiful stones I've been drawn to are E colored but these were loose stones and I'm sure it would look a lot different within a ring setting

I see-- duh! The C in HCA refers to cut lol -.-

Either of those is a fine choice!

Any reason for the color extremes?

If not, here are two other stones from Whiteflash in the middle of your color range, both in your price range, both eye-clean, and with truly outstanding cut:

.836ct, G, SI1

.823ct, H, VS2

Thanks for your suggestions! That large color difference wasn't intentional but within my search parameters of GIA certified diamonds these are the ones that showed up once I narrowed down the choices based on table, depth and color.

I've heard that GIA has the stricter grading system so that's the way I've been leaning. Is it silly of me to discount AGS for this reason? I was under the impression they were comparable but somehow GIA graded diamonds were 'better.'
