Hi all!!

Its probably a silly question for most of you, but i am really quite confused and would like to ask for a bit of help here...

i have been looking for a wedding band and had always wanted an eternity band as my wed band. Tonight FI and I went past a jeweller and I decide to try on an eternity band to see how they look like together.

problem is, while it look nice on its own, its actually quite overwhemling for my very modest e-ring (my e-ring is 0.3 stone)

the sales lady then suggested something with more metal will be more complimentary for the e-ring, she went and show me one of the custom made band for one of her customer, which i must admit, looks much nicer together.

now, when i ask her what setting it is, she said is a grain set band.

what is a grain set band? is that the same as micro pave? I intend to buy my wedding band from whiteflash again because they have been very good with my last purchase, and i want to know what i am asking for before emailing them.

does grain set last well? will diamonds fall off easily? any cons that you can warn me about?

Thanks!

I think some people use grain set and bead set interchangably.

Grain set is basically bead setting a diamond. Holes are drilled, the diamond is placed in the seat, and four peices of metal are pushed around the diamond with a tool called a graver. After they''re set, the beads are polished. There are a few different types of bead setting, however, and if you really want to get technical, just ask the jeweler what their preferred method of bead-setting a diamond is. Some jewelers place beads on the wax before casting the ring, and then push the metal over the diamond. Some bead set stones are set with 3 or 4 beads, whereas, ''traditionally'', grain set I believe are always 4, and make the round stone appear a little more square.

Honestly, more people use ''bead-set'' more commonly, but they''re essentially the same thing.
