You only have one option on your poll. Was that Freudian? Seeing both on your hand, I love the E-W!

ETA: OK, either the other option appeared while I was posting or I'm losing my mind. Which is a possibility.

N/S makes your hands look longer. E/W pulls the attention straight on the diamond.

I agree... I think N/S looks better on my hand and E/W looks better for the stone. I guess if I do it right no one will notice my hand, right? LOL

N/S. The diamond is there to adorn you.

N/S does make the stone look bigger too...

E/W is the way I''d set it. N/S is too ordinary for that lovely stone.

i like it E/W..I think it looks bigger that direction..

I think it looks better on your hand in the north/south setting.

It really depends on the setting ... but from those pix the E/W just appeals to me more. The N/S just isn''t as interesting or modern or ... I dunno ...

My "mind" tells me that N/S is better for "lengthening" fingers .. but my EYES say that stone looks best on your hands EAST/WEST. Like Tiger007''s Leon.

N/S, IMHO, it just kinda sits there like an Opal cocktail ring or something. No oomph.

I think I''d set it NS but then make a 3 stone ring...get some side stones.

I love your stone! To me it looks best E/W. That is more flattering to the stone and gives it a modern look (if that is what you are going for).

N/S all the way. (I *thought* I'd prefer E/W, but it just is more aestheticially pleasing N/S.)

N/S with a nice split shank would be beautiful.

Scintillating...

I love it east/west.

I like the N/S, gives you more space for sidestones

Agreed... I typically prefer N/S settings, but for some reason the E/W just jumps out to me when I see it on your hand. Still, if you''re still counting on a semi-elaborate setting, I might say N/S...........

This is funny because I was prepared to vote NS until I saw the picture...and then I thought how I could SO see that stone set in a Richard Landi split-shank setting EW!!! Obviously that stone holder does not fit your finger well, so I think the EW will look fine once it is set in a setting that fits correctly. I do not like EW when the stone is too wide for the finger, but it looks perfect on you EW, I think!

lol nope, no side stones... at least not big ones...

FTR when the stone is e/w it practically creates its own setting... I can totally visualize it with ease and originally I was going to set my stone e/w before I even got into it - I even made models out of clay and pipe cleaners a few months ago for an e/w setting... but then when I actually GOT the stone I thought it looked so pretty n/s but I just can *not* find a setting that does what I need it to and looks like I''d like it to. Part of me thinks I should just run with the e/w setting because this stone has been calling ALL the shots since I first saw it online, but there''s something very feminine about it being n/s. I was all set to go that way until I figured out that I do want light on the long sides of my stone and I feel nervous about the long side being so exposed when I''m so hard on rings. Having it e/w would mean it was less obtrusive and sleeker - less likely to catch on things and frankly the fact that it looks smaller is a plus. I really don''t want a "honker" per se, I just like the way big facets perform better and hehehe they come on big diamonds ;) But I agree that it looks better on me n/s. I just don''t think this diamond will *allow* me to do that! lol

Clay and pipe cleaners!!! LOL!!! I thought I was the only crazy that made "mock ups" as DH not so fondly calls them!

I like ew on your hand, but, I think it really depends on what your ring will look like. NS would be pretty with a thinner band. EW for a thicker one.

BTW...I loooooove that stone. So glad you decided to keep it!

I agree that N/S looks better on your hand and E/W draws my attention to the stone.

I still voted for N/S.

Are you going to set this in a wide band, like you were leaning towards in your other thread?

you just wanted to get it closer to 50% so it''d be difficult for me! lmao ;) the more I think about it, even the way you put it above, the more I think I should just allow this stone to be in a ring that helps it do what it does best and whatever that is just will look good on my finger I bet.

Well... either way I want a split shank that goes to the corners of the stone... so at the widest set n/s it would be 9.5mm and at the widest if set e/w it would be 7.5mm and either way it will taper down so that the part behind my finger is no wider than 4mm. It''d just me a much more extreme taper set n/s.

I think N/S is the most flattering on your hand.

That's actually why I asked if you were still thinking of putting the stone in a wide band. If so, I think the ring itself will look good on your hand AND you can set it E/W. Trying to picture that...

ETA: I see you said split shank. I wonder if any jewelers near you have N/S and E/W split shank settings? (for you to try on)

I''ve seen a ton of split shank for a long stone but almost none of them go to the corners, they just kind of meet at the gallery part way. And I haven''t seen any e/w settings out and about. I haven''t looked for any though... when I was looking I was looking for a n/s setting.

N/S more complimentary to your hand, and better for a split shank or wider band. E/W if you want more finger coverage.

N/S is my vote. That just looked "right."
