Hello there, I am going to buy loose diamonds for the first time soon. (Wow, it''s getting very exciting!) Great cut is very important to me. What kinds of tools do you think is necessary for me (a beginner) to have? Thank you!

Assuming you are a consumer like myself, the knowledge I found here was the most powerful tool.
In addition to the above portable tools, get familiar with the HCA "cut advisor" tool here under Tools

If you can find a jeweler whom you trust, you don''t need to buy anything.

Rank,

What would cause you to trust a Jeweler.

Maybe it''s their foreign accent, and air about them.

Really, just curious!

Should it be the expert scope or beginner scope? Thank you.

It''s up to you which of the 2 models of idealscope you''d want to purchase. The beginner model will be sufficient but if you dont mind paying for the expert model, it''s great. I have one and it comes with a 10x loupe made of glass in a metal casing that you can un-screw and clean, the pink part is also made of a nice sturdy material
