I bet it would be beautiful; can his show you the CAD first? Did you already find the stone?
I don''t have a stone yet; this is probably at least 6 months away, maybe more like 9 (I''m a planner, can you tell?

).

Would he do a CAD if I haven''t officially placed an order with him yet? I''m not really sure how all this works.

Oh good, that gives you some time to go try on things and see, right? I wish I''d done a bit more of that rather than just jumping in and buying something.

Are there any other designers you like besides the MM and Leon? Not that I don''t think they are both great but there seem to be other rings floating around that are less inexpensive and the same sleek look that you''re looking for.

No, a designer will not do a CAD unless you have put down a deposit. It takes some time to do the drawing so you''ll be charged for the time.

There are lots of other designers that I love, Addy!! I''ve been window-shopping for my engagement ring for 16+ years, so I''ve been smitten with quite a few settings over the years.

There are a number of settings I could be content with, but no setting has ever made my heart beat faster like the MWM (first it was the Flame, then he adjusted the band with the Torchiere, so now it''s the Torchiere). I love the Leon too because of the simplicity of it, but I don''t feel I will have a stone that would showcase it properly. I hadn''t seriously considered Leon until J chose the classic solitaire as his favourite setting. Since I want this ring to be a joint decision, I want J to like it too, especially since (if I was less pushy

) he''d be choosing the setting all by himself. I do love the Leon myself too--I just don''t think it will look AS amazing with a 1ct stone as it does with the 2, 3 and above carat stones. That setting is all about the rock, so if there isn''t as much rock, I don''t think it will look quite as awesome. Although, I could be wrong! If Leon has any pictures to share with me of 1ct stones in his classic, I may be swayed once again!

This is also going to be my forever setting, so I want to make sure it''s exactly what I want. Right now, I think the Torchiere is still my favourite, especially if Mark can do claw prongs for me (and I think I''d trust him to do the best he can do with it). And really, considering the price of stock settings in plat, I feel like it''s worth it to spend a little extra to have a master work on my ring.

That''s what I figured, but it''s good to know for sure. Thanks!

Hi Gwen...I voted for the MWM. Mostly because you have always said that was your true love, and I think that is important. I think it will be gorgeous with whatever size stone. Did you see that SMTR post with a pic of his work with like a .8 stone? It was a few weeks ago I think. Keep us posted!

ETA: I found that thread, and you commented in it, so I guess you saw it!

I vote for the MWM because I think that 6-prong settings make round stones look larger. I have a 4-prong setting now because my solitaire used to have an asscher in it, but I plan on upgrading to a 6-prong setting next year - I just love how they make round diamonds pop!

I voted for the torchiere based on my preference for that style of head, over the cathedral look. So it''s totally personal...although they are both classic, elegant settings.

Hrm. Leon just emailed me to say, "I am sorry, but I cannot show additional images." Cannot *show* them? So he has them, but can''t disclose them?

Weird.

Well, that''s kinda disappointing. Definitely leaning towards the Torchiere.
