Hi guys, I''m trying to choose between 2 cribs--well 2 shades of the same crib really. DH isn''t much help so thought I''d see what you ladies think. We don''t have a house yet, so shade of room/floors has no bearing. This is for a little girl (bedding will probably be conservative, pale pinks and greens) and will be used for some time (converts to full bed). Sorry that I have links only...Thanks!

janine, you know I LOVE this crib since we have it as well! I picked #2 but they are both really nice. We have it in espresso. Is that in the running at all for you?

I think espresso is a great color! But DH and my mother think it's too dark for a 'lil one...so I acquiesed. I think it looks awesome in NYC apts (and actually would match our current furniture), but since we might move to the 'burbs, we're trying to hedge our bets a bit. Thanks for your feedback!

PS Do you happen to remember which mattress you chose? Sorry if I've already asked :)
Oh and getting the Bugaboo Frog (Navy) over the wkend..woo hoo! Of course now I have to load up on all the accessories--did you use their diaper bag?

We are in the burbs and our crib is espresso (different crib though) I love it but I LOVE dark furniture. Of the two I like #2 better.

I love #2. It''s very similar to my son''s crib (he''s 2). We have the same color dresser/changing table and it still looks so nice. We chose it also because it''s the convertible and I just think it''s more of a grow-with-you color.

She''ll be able to do any color she wants as she gets older if she has the darker bed. The lighter bed (IMHO) will show wear and tear more easily and won''t go with all the girly colors. (like yellow)

I think the espresso will work regardless of where you live and it goes great with pink! We have a pink and brown theme and it is really nice!! But go with your gut. It''s a great crib, no matter what color--totally sturdy and roomy and not hard to assemble, DH did it by himself.

I totally forgot to check on the mattress. I''m pretty sure it''s a Serta and we paid around $100 for it. If you go to BRU, they''ll show you what they have and you can decide. I don''t remember there being a huge selection so we picked the one that was not the most expensive but not the least expensive either!

I''m excited for you to get the Bugaboo--you will love it! We didn''t get any of their accessories. Way too expensive!!! Any diaper bag will work, really. I actually have 2, one is a pink camo one by Skip Hop and the other was my splurge from Fleurville. They both work with the stroller. I just think Bugaboo really preys on parents that don''t know any better with their super pricey accessories like the $25 cup holder! Needless to say, we don''t have that. And we didn''t buy their version of the Bundle Me (I think they call it a foot muff or soemthing)for $130--we got the real Bundle Me for $50!

Of the two, I like #2 better. Another vote for Espresso though! I went with an Espresso color crib and I LOVE it! I think it works regardless of where you live.

Regarding mattress, according to Baby Bargains these are your best bets: Foam - Colgate Classica I and Moonlight Slumber''s Starlight Support. Coil - Simmons Super Maxipedic 160 coils and Sealy Baby Soft Premium 204 coils. We decided to go with the Starlight Support Supreme. We haven''t used it yet but it sure looks comfy!

I think ma is wrong....it''s not too dark for babies...if you decorated with dark colors, that''s another story...I''m just not a fan of country looking oak, but to each his own...congrats!

I also agree with the others, Espresso is my favorite! But my second favorite is #2.

Hi Janine,

I am partial to the lighter woods.

I definitely like the darker stain! I need to buy a crib, too, and have been putting it off since I am still co sleeping. Hopefully we can get one soon!

I picked one, because I''m not partial to medium stains, I like the lighter or the darker.

I liked them both, but since you''re going with a pale pink and green theme, I think the lighter pine will work the best. Now, I''m not sure if you''re open to suggestions, but I think a antique white crib would be totally fantastic.

I think any of them would look really nice but I prefer darker stains, so I went with #2.

I voted for number 2. However, I also love espresso/dark woods and think it would look awesome with pinks!
