I''m down to two settings. The Vatche Swan and the Mark Morrell flame. It is a very close call... very similar settings and both great quality. There probably isn''t a wrong choice... That''s what makes it hard! :)

Here is the flame.

Here is the Swan.

Oh my gosh, that's a hard choice! I love them both. I think I'll vote for the Swan today, seconded by my husband. I showed him pics of both.

ETA: the top views are quite different I think. The pics of the Flame I've seen have had the prongs filed to look like hearts (IMO).

What size center stone? I also prefer the simpler solitaire style of the flame versus the cathedral sides (is that the right description?) on the swan. Something about the flame feels more youthful while the swan seems more mature so I guess it depends on your girlfriend''s age, style, etc.

I love the MM Flame! The lines are more modern IMO, but I like modern. If you are going for more classic then the Swan might be the best choice. They are both beautiful though.

That picture of the MM Flame setting looks more like Locke''s solitaire to me, which is no longer produced. I thought that the Flame setting had larger prong tips (similar to the Sunburst). Is that a newer version of the Flame, meant to look even more like the old Locke''s solitaire ring or is that a mislabeled pic of the Locke''s solitaire setting?

It is a 1.22ct stone.

I like the Swan better. Love love love the swan!!!!!

LE, I haven''t seen the Locke solitaire but this is definitely the Mark Morrell Flame. There are better pictures on his website.

I had to look at the photos a few times because both rings are so, so pretty. The more I looked, the more I liked the swan ring. Just the way the sides taper up to hold the stone makes it flow so nicely. Gorgeous ring.
