Hi,
Sorry to open a new post for this, but now I am asking about setting and not stone!!!
Originally I was looking for a plain solitaire, but saw a setting with 2 stones either side of the stone in a store. The total carat weight was .28 It really accented the center stone nicely.
Then I decided to shop online and found a similar setting at Bluenile:

But today I was shown a similar setting at James Allen, but with six stones:

Having researched a little more based on the excellent feedback in my other post I would prefer to buy my diamond from James Allen. I am putting an approx .75 carrot round diamond on the ring.
Are the six stones too much? Will they detract from the main stone? Also, from the side view, the side stones seem to be set differently in these two settings. Does anyone know how this affects the shine, etc? The James Allen ring appears to taper in towards the stones too. James Allen has a 4 stone ring, but two of the stones appear to get hidden under the main stone and the carat weight is pretty small, so I don''t think I''d go for that one.
I know that at the end of the day this is a personal preference, but I have so little experience I would just like to hear any feedback from you guys. I wish I could see the rings in person!
Is there ever a chance of getting a different setting from the dealer that they don''t show online? I would rather buy everything from one vendor and not start sending the diamond elsewhere for setting, etc.
Thanks very much in advance!
Pete

I personally like the James Allen setting better. As far as your other questions, perhaps someone else can address your concerns. Good Luck!

The james allen setting with the 6 stones would look beautiful with a .75 carat stone. I prefer the james allen
setting over the bluenile. The stones in both rings are shared prong but the blue nile has an open gallery vs the
james allen that has a closed gallery for the the side stones. Neither setting should cause the stones to
sparkle any less. The light from the stones enters from the top and gets reflected back out. However, people
will tell you that the stones may be easier to clean in the blue nile setting then the james allen.

So...bottom line both settings are pretty and would work with a .75 stone but I prefer the james allen.

I vote for JA.

JA all the way!

Thanks everyone!
I preferred the JA one too, but I thought maybe the 3D view and sparkling had distracted me! Sounds pretty unanimous though!

I agree, JA!

JA all the way... I don''t care for the BN at all.... Peg head and all, not fuid at all. not graceful...

Just ordered the JA one.
Thanks everyone!
Pete

great pick! I was about to vote for the JA too but read you ordered it. Can''t wait to see the finished product

I can''t wait either! I''m a little nervous, but given the details I have read, the expert advice I received on here and everything else, I''m sure it will be beautiful.
My girlfriend has no idea. It is torture not being able to tell her!
