I''m looking at a 1-1.25 square chunky cushion. Which of these two settings do you prefer?

1. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-ring-is-here-3-10-cushion-in-ritani-setting.55469/

This is the thin Ritani band with the diamonds all the way around. I like the delicate look of this one but can you resize it, as the setting diamonds seem to go all the way around? Have concerns about band stones, as I like to put things in the ultrasound.

- or -

I like the delicate look of this one but can you resize it, as the setting diamonds seem to go all the way around? Love the sleek, somewhat bold look to it, but don''t feel a cushion is a good match for a sleek, somewhat modern setting.

Thanks.

Are you sure you posted the right one from GOG? If so, I guess I don''t understand your question about it...

I love the Ritani setting for a cushion!

Thanks Ellen. Yes, I posted the right one. You can put a cushion in that setting, although there is a round in that photo. But, I''m not sure a cushion would really look ok in it.

That setting - sleek, more modern
Cushion - a bit more antique of a look.

Thanks.

I''m with Ellen (a little confused). I LOVE the Ritani though! I love the diamonds in the basket.

On the Ritani, since the diamonds go all the way around, can you get the band made smaller or larger if you eventually want to? Or is that like an eternity band that you can''t resize?

Ok, I get the question, I think you just posted it with the wrong ring.

I think sizing would be difficult, but maybe not impossible, if it''s not too much. You need to ask Ritani that, they''d know best.

Of the two, I vote Ritani!

Hi,
I too got confused at first with the descriptions, but now I know what you''re getting at!

Are u sure the D.Vatche can accomodate a cushion? From my conversations with Marie at GOG, I got the impression it was just for round or square stones only..
They are very different styles, so I vote for the Ritani considering your centre stone shape. Not sure on the sizing, but have read that sizing eternity is a challenge. Sorry If you''ve already mentioned this, but can you just have it made to order in correct size?

Ritani for a cushion. Very pretty setting.

Are u sure the D.Vatche can accomodate a cushion?>

I was told yes.

Thanks all.

Do you think a cushion would look funny in the Vatche (modern type setting with an old type stone)?

Honestly, while I adore modern settings and I love the Vatche, I can''t picture it with a Cushion. Do they have one in stock that maybe they can just sit the cushion on to see?

No. There are a couple regular x-prongs around here with cushions. If I could remember who they were, I''d link you.

But I think the Ritani would show case it and make it "pop" more.

Ellen, I would love to see some as a cushion''s my next project for September.

elle, it''s like looking for a needle in a haystack to find them. There are just too many x-prong threads now. Try searching some time when you have hours to kill.

Now what about this instead of the Ritani (for the cushion)?

http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=266&rn=1199&action=show_detail

I think it is similar to the Ritani. However, this one does not have the diamonds all the way around, so I could size the ring if I ever needed to. Also, I like the millgrain. (If you put your cursor on the different images, it brings them up).

I agree, I'm thinking that the Vatche may not look right with a cushion.

Thanks so very much.

I am totally in love with #1. The tiny band will proportionately (sp?) make the stone pop.

The Knox is very pretty, too....

The Knox one is pretty but I''m not lovin'' the head or side view on it. Still loving the Ritani.

Ellen- I''m gonna do a search tonight. Very curious now!!

I like the Ritani better personally. Could they not make that ring 3/4?

However, it''s really all about what you like!

elle, lemme know if you find them. I''m pretty sure one is around a 3.5ish ct.

I prefer the Ritani...the Knox is pertty, but I don''t like how the profile looks like the head was just plopped on top.

Will do!!

Hi sonomacounty,
I vote for the Ritani...but I''m a little biased because I have one

Check our my SMTR thread to see how it looks like with a square cushion.

If you are worried about being able to resize the ring, just ask your jeweler to have Ritani leave a small space of metal at the bottom. I ordered both my e-ring and w-band done at the same time so that the metal portion on both match perfectly.

In regards to your question about the ultrasonic, I have been too chicken to try it. I have to admit that it is such a challenge to keep the ring clean. I soak it in jewelery cleaner every night but seems to get dirty again right away.

You know what TeeTee - THAT IS IT ! ! Thanks so much for your help and everyone elses. Your ring is exquisite.

Good, now I can stop torturing myself over figuring this out and go on to other things (YAY ! !)

Absolutely. I didn''t realize that they would do that.

Tee - how long did it take them to make your setting with that special request? What size is your diamond?

Thanks all. Really. You''re the best.

I''ve spent hours on looking and figuring this out. Done. Time to go pour a glass of wine.

Congrats. Teetee''s ring is gorgeous. I''m sure yours will be too.

(don''t forget to post pics when it''s done!!!)

Thanks Elle Chris. I don't have a camera that can do macro, though. I feel guilty because you all have helped me all so much and feel I owe you some nice eye candy, at least.

Maybe I can get a photo from the jeweler when it is done.

I vote for the ritani. as for sizing, Ritani actually sized down butterfly17''s sapphire ring down 2 sizes for her and it was full eternity. also, many of the Ritani owners here put their rings in the ultrasonic and haven''t reported any problems. I just love the quality and craftmanship that the Ritani reputation has. I actually considered the same setting when I was looking to buy a loose cushion and set it.

i see you decided on the Ritani...yay, please post pics when it's done..

Yay, I''m glad I was able to help

My diamond is .94ct but I think it faces up a little smaller because it is H&A and cut deeper than other cushions I''ve seen. But I still love it. I also get tons of compliments on both the diamond and setting.

It took about 5 weeks for my set to be completed. I don''t think the "special" request makes an impact on the wait time because Ritani needs to custom make the setting for your diamond anyway.

Please try to post pics of your ring if you can!

I absolutely love the Ritani setting for a cushion or a round! One thing I would do, though, is have the shank made to be 2mm which is the same width as the wedding band. The regular size is under 2mm, and it was just a little bit too thin. I think Butterfly had hers made in 2mm to be the same width as the matching wedding band. I think I asked Pearlman''s and they said they can ask Ritani to make it that way.
