Hi everyone, newbie here. Both fiance and I are clueless about ring settings, so it''s a new learning process for us. we decided to first hit the designer stores and see what they have. which ones do you guys prefer so we can get a better idea? thank you so much!!

I think most people here don''t prefer those type of "designer" settings at all because of the big pricetag for engagement rings.

As for lesser known but great (and still somewhat expensive!) setting designers try this page at Pearlman''s Jewelers.

Also try the settings from Mark at Engagement Rings Direct:

And for more custom designed settings try Mark Morrell and Leon Mege.

As for the true "designer" places, it differs, but many of us like Graff, Harry Winston, and Cartier to start you off. But you WILL pay a large markup for the name, especially for the stone.

Welcome! You''ve been given some good places to begin looking! Many of us on here chose to buy ideal cut diamonds and then order a setting or have the setting custom made. That is usually more cost effective and often gets you as good or better quality for less money. But there''s nothing wrong with going places and trying on rings. I went to Tiffany when we were looking for my new diamond (anniversary) just to get ideas, but I wouldn''t pay their mark-up. Others who did love Tiffany have found them second hand through Signed Pieces. So there are many options! Good luck on your search!
