Which pave cathedral setting & diamond suggestion

I have been reading for a few months, looking around, and ready to buy. I can''t make up my mind on some basic things though...

First the setting. Blue Nile, White flash and james allen all have a similar setting I like. WF and BN''s seem really close and are my favorites. Opinions, preferences, favorites?

Also the diamond. I just can''t narrow it down. I have lists and print outs and photos but no help. I am looking for a round diamond: eye clean, G or above, ideal cut. Looking for the biggest carat weight I can get while remaining under 2500. Hoping to hit the .8 range. What am I doing wrong? No diamond just speaks to me. Also is this a good size for the setting and size 7 ring? Thanks ahead of time for any help or suggestions.

I much prefer the basket on the WF setting. It's just my personal taste but I like the curved prongs instead of the very straight prongs of the other 2.

I know this one's a bit over your budget and a little lower in color and clarity but it's nice stone.

What have you learned so far about diamonds? The PS Knowlegde section is the absolute best on the net for learning about diamonds and how to purchase them on the net. A little time spent there pays off bigtime when it comes time to choose your diamond.
You have narrowed down your setting, which can be harder than selecting a diamond, so your best bet is generally to use the same PS vendor for your diamond. Here you have three PS vendors to comparision shop with.
When selecting a diamond online images of the stones are the most beneficial tool. Actually IMO they are essential. If you agree then your list of vendors is now narrowed to two as BN does not supply images. Be sure to read about Ideal Scope (IS) images and ASET images in the tutorials. Also read about the Holloway Cut Advisor (HCA) which can help you narrow down which stones merit further investigation (requesting images) vs. which ones generally do not fall into ideal cut category.

Well that was my next question, the benefit of having the same setting and diamond vendor. The WF was my favorite setting and talking to them on the phone assured my choice. And I do really like that diamond choice swingirl. That''s going right to the top of the list.

I''ve looked at the knowledge section here and other sites literature. I guess my diamond search has been too broad. I''ll keep you all informed.
