I''ve already determined that neither me or my girlfriend can see the difference between a F and an H, (at least in jewelry store lighting and in a setting) as we''ve looked at them side-by-side before.

I tend to be leaning towards the 1.000 Ct stone(for a cheezy reason..its exactly 1C and it kindof symbolizes "1 love"..kinda hard to use that line if its 1.12), although the idealscope images look (to me) like maybe the 1.12 is edging it out in light return...ugh head spinning...or maybe the 1C has better contrast?

thanks!

They both look like great diamonds to me. I would throw one more in the mix:

1.11 H SI1 $6,177
www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-586207.htm

and ask Brian the Cutter at Whiteflash to give his opinion on these three diamonds. From what I understand, he is very helpful and will give his honest opinion about the diamonds.

Among other things, I'd ask for his opinion on their optical properties, any noticeable color difference, and the type and visibility of the inclusions since they're all SI1.

By the way, there was just a thread about whiteflash's discount if you mention pricescope when you talk to them.

These are both ACA's - meaning that bots have already been professionally selected / cut to approximate perfection as much as possible. It is quite tempting to choose among them, but I surely know less about diamonds than the people who have put the stamp of approval on these! So, please attach the grain of salt...

I vote for the F-SI. There is something to the F but those more defined, blacks and thick arrows did the trick. The IS on this stone looked more appealing to me - with the promisse of intense light flash along the arrows of this stone.

Is there any way you could choose among them first hand?

Magnum,
I looked at the 1.11 H SI1 $6,177 as well but wasn't particularly happy about the inclusion visible in the idealscope image. I couldn't really see any in the other two. I've emailed whiteflash asking for photos of the original two...too bad I don't have a trip to Houston coming up so that I could look at them in person.

I would buy this one and save some money for a gorgeous platinum setting.

I really second Magnum's suggestion - have Brian view both stones while speaking to you and have him tell you what he thinks of each. He WILL be very honest.

On paper, I personally prefer the cut proportions of the F stone - those proportions are DAZZLING, and the stone is a 1A cut...top of the line.

However, the extra diameter on the H stone is likely more noticeable than any other thing. I have an ACA stone in H color, so I can tell you with certainty that it faces VERY white. Just based on the paper, I'd go for the 1.12 H stone.

Flip a coin.

Oh, and the stone Stephen posted looks nice, but I don't think it's a contender among your other choices. I feel it's overpaying for clarity at the expense of color, and the crown angle is okay, but not optimal. I'd consider that stone if my budget wouldn't allow more.....but it appears as though your budget is in the 6K range, so why compromise on these elements?

I called and talked to Brian today, very helpful, he spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me and answered all of my questions. I have changed my mind and am now leaning towards the H 1.12 stone. Brian says they're both very beautiful, but that the F 1.000 is a little more of a "classic line" and the H is a little more of a "new line" look. Either way I think i'd be happy, but for less money and a little more carat the H 1.12 seems to be the way to go, and it was Brian's personal pick of the two.

They should be sending me photos of each so I can further judge.

We also discussed the possibility of having him do a custom 'copy' of the setting I'm looking at. anyone ever had any luck getting a jewelry store to let you photograph a setting? I can't find much of anything in the way decent pics of scott kay settings.

Has anyone had whiteflash do a custom setting and if so do you have pics?

I would have gone with the 1.12 stone also.

Thats my opinion

I'd pick H SI1

I like the h/si1 for a number of reasons. The sym. is tighter, it's less expensive & larger being amoung some of the reasons.
