No, Gordon Brown has a Scottish accent.

I suppose Kristin Scott Thomas''s character in ''Four Weddings & a Funeral'' would be close...

I sound like Gordon Brown.

My greatest disappointment in DH is that he doesn''t have a Scottish accent. He''s from Cambridge and speaks with Received Pronounciation. To me, that still sounds like an English accent and I notice that our daughter is starting to speak that way too.

I have been told here and there that I sound English (even by Brits) but I wouldn''t think I speak with a British accent however I tend to annunciate my words more clearly then the average Aussie so I think that can contribute.

Personally I love a good British accent and secretly would love to have a cockney one :P

I don''t Go With Noakes as I am not from the North, definitely more Valerie Singleton or Lesley Judd.

Oh those were the days! I''m more of a Val Singleton with a bit of Peter Purves thrown in!

What I couldn''t create with sticky back plastic, a couple of egg cartons and some loo roll holders!

Did you see Anthea''s volcano creation a couple years ago when they did the 50 year anniversary?

For those who are curious as to what we are referring to: Blue Peter

I made a dolls kitchen in the SEVENTIES as I am elderly according to DF out of sticky back plastic, tubes of dowling, matchboxes, egg cartons, abovementioned loo roll holders and that horrible Gloy glue ( brown stuff that reeked).

Do I also remember Christmas mobiles made out of coathangers?

I missed Anthea's creation for their 50 year anniversary - yikes - is BP that old?????

Blue Peter Classic

Yup, did the Advent candle holder too. I notice these days they don''t use real candles.

Who''d have thought, it''s not the diamonds we have in common, it''s the sticky back plastic!!!!!

Who can forget that baby elephant. And who doesn''t know what happens when you give a baby a drink? It pees for heaven''s sake! I''m quite sure it does a no. 2 as well, but maybe Youtube in all it''s political correctness decided that a pooh would be just one step too far.

I''m sure DF knows perfectly well that we "wrinklies" are the cream of the crop! So there you are DF, both Lorelei and I sound like the gal in that clip.

(Psst Lorelei, I noticed a poster by the name of "Parsely" the other day, and guess what her avvie is? Yup, Parsely the Lion!!).

Actually, I have quite a bit of Joanna Lumley thrown in too.

British invasion Pt 2?

So can you Brits tell the difference between a Canadian accent vs American accent?

I always thought I could....until I spoke with a vendor today. I asked him whether he originally from Canada because he kept saying "Aboot" instead of a-BOUT. Turned out he was born and rasied in Minnesota!

I have lived in California for over 20 years, and wasn''t aware that we had an "accent" to the rest of the US but as soon as dh and I traveled to eastern US, people started asking if we are from California (we''re both Asian-american, it''s not like we had the "surfer" look.)

History portrays us a pretty good invaders. Nothing to be proud of in this day and age, but yes DF, we are certainly a force to be reckoned with.
