Doing an upgrade from 1.713

the 2.231 I is a tad overprice for me, its a 9k upgrade.
The 2.23 J looks I from the top, but more yellow from the side.
the 2.002 I is clean from all angle
the 2.058 J is not eye clean from 6 inches.

My order would be pretty much based on what I would want to spend (they are all beautiful stones):

2.002 I
2.23 J
2.23 I

2.058 - Nope, probably wouldnt get this when I can spend a grand more (for the 2.002 I) and upgrade color and get eye-clean
at the same time.

Yea these are my final two
2.002 I
2.23 J

In no particular order yet.

I would get the 2.23 I if I could swing it, if not the 2.23 J.

I really can't swing that large, I unfortunately.

I'm leaning toward the J. Whiteflash said the only time the color is noticeable is from side view. Not top.. I'll get a new ring and place in 6 prong to cover some color.

Any other 2 cents?

Narrow down to 3,

Which one?

I really cant do that 2.23 I, a tad out of price ($9k).

Since the 2.23 I is out of budget and it's down to the 2.00 I and the 2.23 J, I would choose the J. The 0.26mm difference you can totally notice!

How color sensitive are you? What's your current color on your diamond?

2.23 J VS2 upgrades size (by a half carat) AND clarity. Going with the I SI1 is only upgrading the size (.25 ct) all else your stone already is.

You will notice the half carat size difference way more than any color "downgrade," plus the clarity is better, so it'll probably reflect brighter.

Let us know which you choose <envy>

The 2.23 J is NOTICEABLY larger! I would absolutely go with that one! :) but I don't mind the slight tint from the side. I think a 6 prong would work great with it.

If the 2.23 I is out of the question, I would go with the 2.23 J. The large, over budget I seems to have the best color of them all but it is too expensive. The 2.0 carat I seems to be closer to the 2.23 J in color anyway, so I would definitely go with the J.

AGS report says your current stone if 7.65 - 7.69 x 4.75 mm so the 2.23 J would be a good size upgrade.

I could potentially do the I if I keep the ring.
If I do a 6 prong ring, it's going to be 1500 there.
So it's either the large I or the J.
Is the I color noticeable better?

I could do the I if I keep ring the same. Legato sleek line.
Would there be any performance difference between I and j?

It depends on how color sensitive you are. I did a half carat size upgrade , but went from H to I and initially regretted it....I never noticed the color in my H, but the larger size and lower color was more noticeable than I thought. I've had my 'I' just over 2 years now and now it doesn't bother me anymore, I think mostly because I don't spend as much time staring at it anymore. My setting is an open 4 prong though. I do think the 6 prongs will help mask things. I never notice color from the top, just the side and I do think the larger size picks up more color from the environment....office walls are cream, etc. Only you will really notice the side....other people looking at it will be looking from the top.

Spoke to accountant and I can splurge on the I if I keep her ring the same. Legato four prong.

J plus ring is the other option...

Tough call.

Edit. Is there any noticeable difference performance wise better the J and I stone? Besides thing like clarity.

Went with the J and new ring.

The I just had so many clouds.

Speaking of, anyway to sell the old setting?

Exciting! Can't wait to see.

Yes - make a listing on loupetroop or diamondbistro, and then post that link (and details/pics) in the pre-loved forum here.

What price is fair? size 5 legato sleek line.
Im doing the Elana ring now with 6 prong.

List your setting on Pre-loved here on PS after you list it on Loupetroop.com. Look at the retail price and price it about 40% off the retail and hope to get half of what you paid, if it is in really good condition. You need to tell the type of metal, ring size, and the exact mm of the stone that was in the setting. Post pictures of the ring with the diamond and with the diamond removed.

Easy enough.
Wf offered material cost which was low obviously.
What about pawn shop. Or would it be best to wait!

Wait until what?

Metal value is obviously easiest, but it is the lowest value. I don't see the harm in trying to sell it on your own via the avenues we have mentioned. Just get it shipped back to you with your new ring.

Pawn shops by me (and I frequent them regularly) say they usually pay the seller around 1/4 retail and price the item around 60% to give some flexibility to let the buyer negotiate and try to keep the sale around half of retail. That's if they think they can resell it. Or they'll offer you scrap metal price.

I went to my local jeweler today.
They offered $500 for the ring if I buy a ring through them.
They can do the same ring (Elana) with a tiffany style head for $300 less.
so roughly $1000 for the ring with the purchase of my new one.
Plus they can do full eternity band 3/4 tcw on the side? so i am leaning towards that option.
