B is not too symmetrical

Thanks for the quick response Garry. :)

So does the positioning of the lines in the lower part of the pavilion not matter? "A" has the lines fanning out from the girdle, whereas "B" has the lines more parallel and not meeting at the girdle.

Also, "A" has an uneven girdle, whereas "B" is straight.

Is it still a roll of the dice, or (given all else being strictly equal) would you (Garry or anyone) favor "A" or "B" on the points I mentioned above?

We cross posted DiaGem. Could you expound on that a little for a newbie like myself? Thanks.

BTW, thanks for taking time to edit the graphic.

Not symmetrical = different face up appearance compared to a symmetrical Princess cut...

Also bear in mind that the smallest piece of debree/dust on the stone during scanning can be cause of an assymetrical model.

In answer to your question pb, the lines on the bottom are representing the outline of what''s called chevron facets on the pavilion of a princess cut. The amount of chevrons on the pavilion of a princess cut will cause a difference in appearance but only when the comparison is between a princess cut with 2 chevrons vs one with 3-4 chevrons. In the examples you provided both have more than 2 chevrons.

What will primarily determine a difference between those 2 stones is their proportions and as Garry correctly stated there''s not enough data provided to offer any meaningful commentary.

Regards,
