Thank you Yenny and Enerchi.

Enerchi, I'm pretty adventerous when it comes to living in different places (that's where "gypsy" name comes from), so I agree, I can definitely find a way to make contacts in a new area. Honestly it's really the gray weather, I REALLY have a problem with it. Today was gray here and I could feel it pushing down on me.

Gypsy, I'm down here in San Diego and it was grey and raining here today, and as I walked into the grocery store I thought of you lol!

((HUGS)) thank you Sonny!

.....Yenny, yeah it is hard. But... I do think that all this input has helped. My gut is... neither is right with the information I have right now. So unless something changes... I need to keep looking.

yep.

does your employer know you don't want to be in Seattle and that you will be looking for other employment? perhaps they'd work with you? not sure i'd want to admit to an employer that i had SAD......sometimes people just "don't understand".......

Gypsy:

I would agree that Seattle is not where you are likely to be happy and fulfilled; and that you will move away.

I also understand your concerns with the Philly job. I would not dismiss the website postings of a seemingly large percentage of dissatisfied employees. The ones who posted will be your co-workers.

I know you are adventurous: How about keep looking for a job where you are.

Have a gerat day,

Perry

I vote Seattle because your DH will have opportunities at his corporate headquarters...he may be up for a promotion even if he transfers. Seattle is way cool and the cost of living is probably less than where you are now. The weather can be bothersome, but it's so beautiful there. I almost moved there two years ago but accepted a position in Norcal...which actually moves me to San Diego next year. The best way to make a career move is to take a new job. I say enjoy the adventure. West Coasters have a hard time adjusting to East Coast weather...no to Philly :)

I was under the impression that Philly has colder winters than Seattle. Overall, though, if you really love sun and need that to thrive, it's a difficult adjustment living in Seattle. I grew up here and am use to it, but still it bothers me. We visited San Diego a few years ago and were so enamored by the warmth of the sun and the people, we contemplated moving there!

Doesn't sound like you are happy about either choice. What does your husband think? Is there a plan c?

UPDATE:

My manager told me today they are going to TRY to get the approval to fill my position FROM THIS OFFICE in Nor Cal (no moving to Seattle!). That would be fantastic! DH's job and promotions would be stable, AND we could move closer to work (which is an area I love), and NO MOVING!

May I get some dust?

YAY!! Oh Gypsy, I hope this pans out for you - what a joy to not have to uproot everything and start from scratch (although it CAN be exciting...) but I hope you get to stay where you are and your DH gets the promotions he's headed for!!
DUST DUST DUST DUST DUST!!! POOOF/ WHOOSH/ POOF (that's the dust blowing over and down from Ontario to you in California!) :appl:

Dust for you to be able to stay where you are! I would have LOVED for you to be in Seattle closer to me. I had the whole scenario planned out for us to be bestest of the friendest. ;) But would ultimately like you to stay where your friends and home and family are! Dust!!!! Dust and Ultra Megatron Gigantor dust!

Here's more dust. Gypsy, its due to rain tonight here in the Bay Area...except where you live. I understand its going to be precipitating lots and lots of DUST on your home tonight!

That aside, Gypsy, this is what I know about you. You have a strong sense of self and what you like and don't like. You are confident about career matters and have tremendous common sense that you bring to the table when discussing work related problems for others. That says to me that you are pretty comfortable with who you are and are probably really effective in the workplace. So, I think its great that you would be comfortable passing on an offer of a good position in Seattle knowing that it probably wouldn't work for you, and would instead opt to continue looking. Here's more dust that creating the position here works out - again, a strong sign of support that your supervisor is going to bat for you :))

Gypsy:

I was never that good with sprinkling dust; but what I am good at is FAITH. I have a lot of faith in you and this situation Gypsy.

Perry

see first post on this page, Gypsy: the realm of possibility has big ears! and now you're getting lots of dust. hopefully, it will become reality.

Good luck, Gypsy!

Gypsy, my fingers and toes are crossed for you that this all works out!

Sending buckets of dust from MI to CA!
