Which is the better choice?

Which is a better choice? A white gold ring with about 1.10 ctw and "G" VS2 diamonds or a platinum ring also about 1.10 ctw with "I" VS2 diamonds. I was offered about the same price range for both at approx. $2100. I figured that the platinum was better thinking that to the eye, I wouldn''t see too much of a difference between the "G" and "I" diamonds and since platinum is also usually priced higher, but others have told me to go with the better diamonds. Maybe its just a preference issue?

It may be easier & less expensive to change the gld ring to platinum later than to upgrade the diamods if desired... IMO, the first option (Gold & G/VS) sounds better.

Not every woman would want to upgrade the band. I personally would rather upgrade a diamond than the band. If the diamonds are both well cut/near ideal then I don't think there would be much difference between an H and an I.
