The biggest thrill/excitement for you... is it:

Searching for the perfect stone?
Designing the setting for the stone?
Getting the finished ring?
Wearing it?

Just curious - because I could LOOK casually but waiting to get it is torture!!!

Wearing it
but i am still looking

Interesting!
Because I have to admit, for me, the biggest excitement has never been wearing it...
Is it only me?

Getting the ring, earrings, etc. Opening up that box just gives me such a thrill! It''s really, for me, a culmination of all of the little excitements of finding the stone, then the perfect setting, and then seeing it all come together.

I think it depends. Sometimes it's getting the stone. Sometimes it's getting the finished piece. Sometimes its the thrill of the chase, although often I come across what I'm looking for by accident. And really, I usually know how I'll set things before I buy the stone, or I'll love a setting and fit it around a stone that I have. I have two very special stones that I adore, that I've been trying to design settings for, for quite some time, and nothing yet.

ETA: Never wearing it for me either.

I''m like Freke in the fact that its not really one part of the process where I get excited, I could get excited by any of it really!

I pull the trigger sometimes because I happen to like how a stone looks, and not because I have any ideas for it. I might later down the line but its never anything right away.

In the case of the sapphire I just purchased, I knew I was going to get it, I just had to find the setting. Once I found the setting it was all a go!

I was asking because when it came to my diamond I hated the search for it and the ring design process was a pita and I my biggest joy was just having it in (or on) my hand. I think I had the most fun before it was set, but over all I think it was wearing it that I liked best.

This time everything is happening quickly and in a different order. I rarely look at colored stones but when I do I have a few times impulsively almost bought something that caught my eye but I was too lazy to get up to get my cc so I didn''t bother. I''d been casually thinking about a particular ring but I do that about a lot of things... I casually imagine different earrings or different bracelets or whatever. So I was just casually looking when boom I saw it and I felt such a panic to get it that I was nervous I would not get my cc in time lol (even though it''s not all that special other than to me). I knew instantly how I wanted the ring. And I feel differently now as well... the ring should be pretty simple and quick and I am going to have it on my finger soon enough and I wonder if this is how the addiction gets started or if this is a one time thing for me lol All I know is now I am impatient and I keep looking at more gemstones lol

Well it''s definately not figuring out the setting!! Maybe after another 10 years of this I''ll get good at jewelry design. For now I leave it to the jewelers and to the PSers that have that skill. I am always amazed at how some PSers are so gifted at design. And I can look at thousands of stones and not be moved.

I enjoy being able to buy the stone that really grabs my attention.

I enjoy sharing the stone on PS.

I enjoy wearing the stone once it''s set!

not on your list but I must say that digging up your own gemstone from the ground then having it cut is my fav. no thrill in my book beats seeing that glint of color in the ground or rock ...not knowing what it is or how good it is...and slowly pulling it out....and....

Paying for it.

And seriously, this tiny moment before I open the package...

Searching and searching for something new that I want.

That moment when a gem grabs you, and you keep coming back to it. Or even better, you''re horrified someone will take it if you leave it for even one more second and order it right away.

And of course, when it arrives. And taking it into all sorts of different lighting and getting to know it.

And then finding the perfect setting.

And then wearing it.
