Are both acceptable, neither, or just the first? I can see that the first is better since there is less white, but I don't know how much white is acceptable. I know each person has their own personal standards but what does PS (people more knowledgeable than I on the subject) have to say on the issue?
Depends. The first is great. The second is not so great. For some it would be acceptable. For others it woudn't be.
Buying a diamond is a balancing act. Most people can't afford D IF super ideals. So compromises have to be made. How the 4 C's are balanced is up to the individual.
Would it be acceptable for me? For an engagement ring. No. And would I recommend a stone with the second IS? Only if the person made it clear top cut isn't their priority, and that they value size or something else over cut.
This would be for an engagement ring. Looking at the images, the second one is out. When you said you wouldn't recommend for an e-ring, was that referring to the second one or to both?
