Maybe more clarification would help.

I am considering purchasing a five stone Jaffe wedding ring that is previously owned. The ring has five 40 point stones, total ctw 2.0, in platinum with a square shank. I have louped the stones and see some minor inclusions in two of the stones; the others look clean. The seller, a local consignor, merely pulled a picture of a similar ring to set her price and has no information on color/clarity/cut. She is willing to take it up the street to a local appraiser she uses, but insists that I pay for the appraisal. I told her that I wanted to know what I was buying before making a commitment.

My questions are as follows:

Does Jaffe routinely use stones in a particular range of color/clarity? I put it on with my solitaire and would guess that the stones are G/H, probably SI1s, but wondered if Jaffe's five stone wedding rings come in a "standard" color and quality or if stones are specified by the purchaser for color and quality.

What cut stones do they typically use for a wedding ring of that size?

What is a reasonable price?

Have you contacted Jaffe and asked? I would contact them and ask how much the ring costs new and what the general specs they make it in are or contact someone who sells their products or if it is no longer in stock contact a vendor who might have sold this particular ring, who might have some idea.... The preloved value will be in part determined by its original value and in part by the stones and the metal used in it, and by the current condition it is in.

Seems your "appraisal" is accurate! Solomon Brothers, a PS sponsor, is an A. Jaffe retailer. Here is their summary page of A. Jaffe 5-stone rings, with prices:

If you click on the page for any one of them & then hit the Details tab, you'll see the stones are described as GH in color and SI in clarity.

As a former A. Jaffe retailer, I remember that when we ordered from them they asked if we wanted A,B, or C quality goods set. It has been long enough ago that I don't remember the breakdown as to color and clarity, so an appraisal is probably necessary to verify the diamonds.
