honestly - I've discussed this stuff so much with my fellow expats here and we all agree that we have gained such a tolerance for that which is gross. People pick through raw chicken and the woman who sells it tosses a dirty rag for them to wipe their hands on, she puts them on the scale, scratches her head, gets money... I *never* ask for change, I always have the exact amount when I'm at the market. At first you might think you want to be vegetarian, but after a while you realize you have some tools to protect yourself even if surrounded by that which is culturally wrong by our standards. I won't even describe the bathrooms, but after living here I will tell you that I will NEVER EVER again worry about some germs in america being blown through a hand dryer. Seriously. It's like so so clean compared to the environment so much of the world lives AND *SURVIVES* in. I totally understand the feelings of disgust, but I also know that for the most part it's just in your head.Pink Tower|1302021815|2888329 said:I think the grossest thing is a hand dryer in a public restroom. There have been many articles written about them. How can someone hold their hands under a machine that sucks the bacteria from a public bathroom and blows them back out, only warmed?lbbaber|1301973764|2888031 said:MC|1301972813|2888025 said:lbbaber|1301972691|2888023 said:I rotate my plates, when i unload the dishwasher the clean one's go on the bottom.....that way none collect dust. If I suddenly need to use all of them (visiting family?), I know they all will be spotless.
I also have to put my glasses with the tops (opening) down. I'm obsessed that dust might get into my dishes and then my mouth. I dust EVERY DAY.
Dust is DEAD SKIN CELLS![]()
there are dead skin cells on plates???
lol, If there is dust, yes. I worry that even if I cant see dust, there might be some there.
I also worry about the microscopic germs that spread around the bathroom when people flush toilets.....
It's the germs/dirt I can't see that scare me the most.
